<p>The Department is supporting local authorities to decarbonise with funding and
tools, helping them to build their capacity and capability. Key programmes include
the £5.7 billion City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements and the £4.8 billion
Levelling Up Fund, which supports local delivery of transport decarbonisation alongside
other government objectives.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has also established Active
Travel England to help local authorities deliver high quality walking and cycling
schemes and last month announced an additional £56 million of public and industry
funding to support the rollout of local electric vehicle chargepoints across the country.</p><p>
</p><p>The Government will shortly be consulting on new Local Transport Plan (LTP)
guidance that will support better and more integrated strategic planning and provide
new guidance to authorities in quantifying the carbon impact of their plans. This
is in addition to work underway to update its Local Authority Transport Decarbonisation
Toolkit on a range of interventions.</p>
