answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/07/2017 answer text <p>Ministers and Government officials have had a number of discussions with Vertex and NHS England in which the availability of Orkambi for the treatment of cystic fibrosis was raised.</p><p> </p><p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent body that develops guidance for the National Health Service on whether new drugs and treatments represent a clinically and cost effective use of resources.</p><p> </p><p>NICE published final guidance on the use of Orkambi (lumacaftor-ivacaftor) for treating cystic fibrosis homozygous for the F508del mutation in July 2016 that does not recommend this treatment.</p><p> </p><p>Where NICE has not been able to recommend a treatment, funding decisions should be made by the relevant NHS commissioner, based on an assessment of the available evidence.</p> answering member constituency Winchester answering member printed Steve Brine question first answered 12/07/2017 09:12:44 answering member 4067 label Biography information for Steve Brine

In November 2015, the Government commissioned a review into the funding of Islamist extremist activity in the UK, including any overseas sources. The UK has been at the forefront of the online battle against extremist and terrorist material. The dedicated police Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) refers content that they assess as contravening UK terrorism legislation to industry and have secured the removal of over 280,000 pieces of terrorist-related material since its inception in February 2010.</p><p>This government continue to work with technology companies to encourage them to be more proactive in tackling terrorist material on the internet. Following a roundtable with the Home Secretary on 30 March 2017, Twitter, Facebook, Google and Microsoft announced they would look at options for establishing a global industry led forum specifically focussed on tackling online terrorist content. The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism was formally launched on 26 June 2017. The appalling attacks in Manchester and London, just as previous attacks such as in Sousse, Tunisia, demonstrate how vital it is that support is available to victims and their families.</p><p> </p><p>In 2017, we established a cross-HMG Victims of Terrorism unit to co-ordinate support to UK citizens directly affected by terrorist events at home or overseas. It is working across Government, the voluntary sector and with local authorities to ensure that support to victims of terrorism is comprehensive, coordinated and clearly communicated.</p><p> </p><p>We have developed gov.uk webpages</p><p>(see <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/terror-attacks-support-for-people-affected" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/terror-attacks-support-for-people-affected</a>) to provide comprehensive advice to victims and to signpost them to support services in the UK. The law does not differentiate between criminal offences committed online or anywhere else; it is the action that is illegal.</p><p> </p><p>The Government works with the online sector and other stakeholders to address issues of safety online and the impact of potentially harmful content.</p><p>We expect websites including social media companies to respond quickly to reports of harmful content and abusive behaviour on their networks.
