<p>The Government is committed to making sure that victims of terrorism and bereaved
families receive the best possible support both in the immediate aftermath, and in
the long term. The appalling attacks in Manchester and London, just as previous attacks
such as in Sousse, Tunisia, demonstrate how vital it is that support is available
to victims and their families.</p><p> </p><p>In 2017, we established a cross-HMG Victims
of Terrorism unit to co-ordinate support to UK citizens directly affected by terrorist
events at home or overseas. It is working across Government, the voluntary sector
and with local authorities to ensure that support to victims of terrorism is comprehensive,
coordinated and clearly communicated.</p><p> </p><p>We have developed gov.uk webpages</p><p>(see
<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/terror-attacks-support-for-people-affected"
target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/terror-attacks-support-for-people-affected</a>)
to provide comprehensive advice to victims and to signpost them to support services
in the UK. We have also been working closely with local authorities to highlight the
support available, and will make sure that payments from the We Love Manchester Emergency
Fund and the UK Solidarity Fund do not affect benefits payments.</p>
