	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/07/2017 answer text <p>This Government has been clear there should be no safe space online for terrorists and their supporters to radicalise, recruit, incite, or inspire. The UK has been at the forefront of the online battle against extremist and terrorist material. The dedicated police Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) refers content that they assess as contravening UK terrorism legislation to industry and have secured the removal of over 280,000 pieces of terrorist-related material since its inception in February 2010.</p><p>This government continue to work with technology companies to encourage them to be more proactive in tackling terrorist material on the internet. Following a roundtable with the Home Secretary on 30 March 2017, Twitter, Facebook, Google and Microsoft announced they would look at options for establishing a global industry led forum specifically focussed on tackling online terrorist content. The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism was formally launched on 26 June 2017. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2017 answer text <p>We do not hold information centrally on police vacancies.</p><p> </p><p>Decisions about the recruitment and retention of police officers and staff are the responsibility of chief constables and police and crime commissioners, supported by the College of Policing.</p><p> </p><p>In its Effectiveness report, published on 2 March 2017, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) called on the National Police Chiefs’ Council, working with the College of Policing, to review by June what is being done to tackle concerns over the number of police detectives. HMIC recommended that these bodies should put in place a national action plan by December 2017. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/07/2017 answer text <p>The Home Office keeps the UK’s preparedness for terrorist attack under constant review, and is delivering a £144 million programme to increase numbers of armed police officers in the UK. The first phase of the armed uplift is complete, with an additional 41 Armed Response Vehicles and around 650 armed officers trained. The number of armed response vehicles has more than doubled in London and around a quarter of the national CTSFO capability will also be based in the capital.</p><p>The Home Office also trains and equips specialist fire and ambulance teams to manage casualties in higher risk environments. These capabilities are deployable to a terrorist incident occurring anywhere in the UK, including London.
