answer text <p>On 1 December 2014 the UK opted out of more than 100 EU police and criminal justice powers including the European Union Crime Prevention Network.</p><p>The Government has always been clear that we wanted to remain part of a smaller number of measures which give our police and law enforcement agencies vital and practical help in the fight against crime. answer text <p>Officials from our Embassy in Bangkok attended three days of Mr Hall's recent criminal defamation trial, including the opening and closing day, in order to observe proceedings. We also encouraged officials from other EU Member States to attend. We are pleased to note that one case of criminal defamation against Mr Hall has been dismissed.</p><p>Officials, both in Bangkok and London, are in regular contact with Mr Hall, and will continue to monitor Mr Hall’s case closely, ensuring that his case is raised with the Thai authorities where appropriate and reminding the authorities of their obligations to ensure international human rights standards are upheld.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Since March 2008, all Entry Clearance applications made in Nepal have been considered by UK Entry Clearance Officers based at the visa section in New Delhi. This includes applications to study in the UK. Entry Clearance Officers consider student applications in accordance with the Immigration Rules. answer text <p>The Inter99 randomised controlled trial has been critically appraised by Public Health England’s Expert Scientific and Clinical Advisory Panel (ESCAP). ESCAP’s appraisal has highlighted that although the study did not detect positive health outcomes at a population-level, the trial did report positive lifestyle changes for individual participants.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>ESCAP also recognised that there were important differences between the health check considered in the Inter99 trial and the NHS Health Check, which limits its generalisability to the programme in England. In particular, the NHS Health Check population is both older and less healthy than the Danish population studied in the trial. The interventions also differ as the NHS Health Check has a much stronger focus on clinical management of newly detected disease.</p><p> </p> more like this

There is a specific emphasis on delivering improved outcomes for people in crisis at a local level. Partner organisations are expected to demonstrate their commitments by signing up to a local declaration and agreeing a joint action plan to bring about the improvements needed.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are asking every area to develop a shared action plan and commit to review, monitor and track improvements. In particular, we have asked for a commitment from all areas to reduce the use of police stations as places of safety.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The particular focus on Local Crisis Declarations is designed to enable each partnership to understand the issues in their area and develop solutions.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>All localities are working to have their declarations agreed by all the relevant local agencies by the end of the year. We are working closely with the mental health charity Mind to support the work in localities.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Declarations have already been made by London, Portsmouth, Wiltshire, Kent, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Durham and Darlington, Bedfordshire &amp; Luton, North Yorkshire &amp; York, Cheshire, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Doncaster, Norfolk, Suffolk, Devon &amp; Cornwall and Nottinghamshire.
