The most recent analysis by the Electoral Commission of the completeness and accuracy of the electoral registers in Northern Ireland (November 2012) and Great Britain (2014) suggests that 51% of 18-19 year olds in Northern Ireland were registered to vote, compared with 76.1% of 18-19 year olds in Great Britain.</p><p>Electoral Registration Officers are best placed to determine what is appropriate or necessary in their area; many work with local schools and colleges to identify and register young people.</p> answering member printed Lord Bridges of Headley question first answered 06/08/2015 10:01:09 answering member 4535 label Biography information for Lord Bridges of Headley

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/03/2015 answer text <p>The Electoral Commission (EC) published its analysis of the electoral registers in England and Wales as at 1 December 2014 on 24 February. This includes an assessment of attainer registration. Their report can be found here:</p><p><a href="http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/182375/Analysis-of-the-December-2014-electoral-registers-in-England-and-Wales.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/182375/Analysis-of-the-December-2014-electoral-registers-in-England-and-Wales.pdf</a></p><p> </p><p>The Government is investing over £14 million aimed at maximising voter registration. This includes a focus on targeting new attainers with organisations such as UK Youth and British Youth Council receiving funding to help increase registration levels among this group.
