answer text <p>An ageing society means that we need to reach a longer-term sustainable settlement for social care. This is why the Government has committed to publishing a Social Care Green Paper setting out its proposals for reform. The Green Paper will cover a range of issues including funding, workforce, carers and commissioning. It is right that social care funding is agreed alongside the rest of the local government settlement at the forthcoming spending review.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Ministers in the department meet regularly with ministers of other government departments to discuss interrelated policy areas, including skills needs. The department’s officials also have regular engagement with the Department of Work and Pensions on a range of skills issues. This includes discussions on the National Retraining Scheme, which will give adults the skills they need to thrive as the economy changes, and Skills Advisory Panels, which will bring together local representatives to identify and address local skills gaps.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Automation and modernisation will have a significant impact on the jobs market over the next 10-20 years, bringing new challenges and opportunities. The National Retraining Scheme, announced in the 2017 Autumn Budget, is an ambitious and far-reaching programme to drive adult retraining. The Scheme will help those most at risk and in precarious employment to gain the skills they need to thrive as the economy changes.</p><p>In addition, the government has committed up to £30 million to develop innovative ways to use education technology and artificial intelligence in education to deliver improved learning outcomes. This funding takes effect from 2019-20 onwards and further details will be announced shortly.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Highway Code provides guidance for drivers on being aware of cyclists and other vulnerable road users and allowing adequate distance when passing them.</p><p>The Department is aware that not all road users follow the rules on safe overtaking and on 18 October 2018 the Department that the Highway Code will be reviewed to help keep cyclists, vulnerable road users and pedestrians safe on the roads.</p><p>This followed announcements in the summer committing to update the Highway Code in relation to close passing and highlighting a UK-wide initiative to help police enforce against dangerous drivers who pass cyclists too closely.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Prime Minister’s Trade Envoys are asked to report back to my Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade after each visit they undertake in the role. The Department for International Trade teams based in the Trade Envoy markets, also collate any business successes the Trade Envoys have been involved with, which is reported back on a quarterly basis.</p><p> </p><p>As appointees of the Prime Minister, Trade Envoys have been instrumental in helping the UK secure business in their markets, as well as lobbying to remove specific barriers affecting trade.</p> more like this
