answer text <p>100% of employers believed to be in scope of the regulations reported their figures by August 2018.</p><p> </p><p>It is an employer’s legal responsibility to ensure that they report on time and that their figures are accurate. The vast majority of the over 10,500 that reported last year have completed the calculations correctly. In 2018, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) commenced enforcement action against 100 employers suspected of publishing inaccurate gender pay gap figures.</p><p> </p><p>The EHRC enforcement found that they were a result of errors, rather than a deliberate attempt to mislead. They have worked closely with employers to identify and correct errors - all of whom have now either verified their figures or identified and corrected calculation errors.</p><p> </p><p>Employers have until 30 March, for the public sector, and 4 April, for the private and voluntary sector, to submit their data for the second year. The data for the 2018-19 reporting year will be reviewed once the deadline has passed.</p>

answer text <p>The Minister for Women and Equalities regularly discusses gender equality issues with Cabinet colleagues and this Government is committed to tackling the major injustices that hold women back. We regularly consult with women’s organisations as we develop policies, and will continue to do so. For example, we have engaged with women’s groups through the Centenary Programme, Returners Programme and the LGBT action plan.</p><p>The Government Equalities Office is currently developing a programme of work to ensure that women’s voices are better heard by policymakers. Our aim is to understand the barriers that women face and enable them to fulfil their potential.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We believe that listing specific conditions would not help people with hard to diagnose illnesses (as is currently often the case with fibromyalgia), as doing so would make protection dependent upon a successful diagnosis rather than the immediate impact of the illness on a person’s life.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Equality Act 2010 is the principal means through which disabled people are protected from discrimination in Great Britain but does not, except in a few specific instances, specify conditions that may fall within the definition of disability. This is because in most cases, it is the impact on the person’s life that is the qualifying criteria rather than the condition itself.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The definition set out in the Act means that any person with a physical or mental impairment that falls within this definition will already be protected as having a disability, which may apply to many of those with fibromyalgia.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>We keep section 106 under review, as we do with other uncommenced provisions in the Equality Act 2010.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Equalities Office is working to support women and disabled people to participate in politics. This includes the recently announced fund to support disabled candidates to seek electoral office, to meet the costs of campaigning, primarily for the forthcoming English local elections in 2019.</p><p> </p><p>Ultimately, parties are responsible for their candidate selection and should lead the way in improving diverse representation. Many are already doing so.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Minister for Women and Equalities leads on policy relating to women, sexual orientation and transgender equality. We encourage organisations that provide HIV prevention and treatment services to proactively engage with the BAME lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population.</p><p> </p><p>The LGBT Action Plan includes a commitment on tackling HIV transmission, AIDS and HIV-related deaths. Public Health England are disseminating results from their ‘Positive Voices’ survey to tackle the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV.</p><p> </p><p>Public Health England and the Department for Health and Social Care are responsible for sexual health policy. The Government Equalities Office work with those departments to tackle health inequalities faced by LGBT people, including those who are BAME.</p><p> </p> more like this
