answer text <p>The decision to provide £105m of Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline (RNEP) funding to deliver the Darlington Station Enhancements scheme was taken not only due to the direct journey time and reliability improvements it will provide to rail users, but also the result of the wider economic benefits it will generate for Darlington and the region, resulting from increased productivity.</p><p>These benefits will be further enhanced through complementary investment from Tees Valley Combined Authority, who are utilising a number of funding streams – including the Active Travel England Fund – to improve the public realm surrounding the station.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) issued 110 notices in 2023 related to breach of the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Personal Protective Equipment) regulation 1999. Out of the 110 notices; 57 resulted in the MCA issuing non-criminal cautions to persons admitting breaching regulations, 15 concluded with no further action taken and 38 are still being investigated.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department for Transport consulted extensively with vehicle manufacturers and as a result, the zero emission vehicle targets are ambitious but achievable.</p><p>The mandate will help cut the cost of zero emission vehicle cars by giving manufacturers the certainty they need to transition production. In doing so, this will help more and more people save money on their motoring with the cheaper driving they provide, whilst reducing our reliance on imported oil and helping to deliver our ambitious emission reduction targets.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>As of 23 October 2023, there were 571,820 car practical driving tests booked, and 72,787 driving tests available within the 24-week booking window.</p><p>The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is taking all the measures it can to reduce driving test waiting times. This includes carrying out overtime, such as at weekends and on public holidays, buying back annual leave from driving examiners (DE) and, inviting recently retired DEs to return to work.</p><p> </p><p>Since April 2021, measures put in place by the DVSA to reduce waiting times for its customers, together with the ongoing recruitment of DEs, is creating on average over 40,000 extra car test slots each month.</p><p> </p><p>The DVSA has also deployed all eligible managers and administrative staff back on the front line to do driving tests from the beginning of October 2023 until the end of March 2024, which will create around 150,000 test slots.</p> more like this
