answer text <p>The findings of the evidence review of designated driver schemes were inconclusive. However, the Department’s THINK! road safety campaign works with commercial brands to reward designated drivers with free soft drinks. Feedback to this campaign has been positive so we will continue to use this approach whilst monitoring for any research in to the effectiveness of the designated driver messaging.</p> more like this

answer text <p>It is important that we strike the right balance between the safety and the freedom of young drivers. Many rely on their cars to get to work and education; so licensing restrictions could affect their ability to access these opportunities.</p><p> </p><p>Instead, we’re focussing our efforts on encouraging learner drivers to be better prepared for the wonderful freedoms a driving licence offers, but without compromising on safety, which is at the heart of what we do.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK’s independent safety regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) takes seriously concerns raised in the safe operation of commercial helicopter transport.</p><p> </p><p>The CAA currently leads the Offshore Helicopter Safety Action Group (OHSAG) which seeks to drive through safety improvements.</p><p> </p><p>The Group is represented across industry and includes pilot and workforce representatives from key organisations to facilitate dialogue between helicopter operators, workforce representatives, manufacturers and regulators.</p><p> </p><p>The OHSAG has made significant safety improvements, including prohibiting helicopter flights in the most severe sea conditions.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been working very closely with the Norwegian CAA following the Airbus EC225LP incident on the 29<sup>th</sup> April.</p><p> </p><p>Shortly after the accident, the CAA introduced restrictions to Airbus Helicopters EC225LP to prevent operations for commercial flights by UK operators. On 11<sup>th</sup> of May, these restrictions were extended to include the AS332L2 Super Puma helicopter.</p><p> </p><p>Following a report by Norwegian Air Accident Investigators on 1st June, the CAA further extended these restrictions to prohibit all flights by these helicopters until further information is available.</p> more like this
