The Taxation (Cross-Border Trade) Act enables the UK to put in place a UK trade preferences scheme for developing countries once we leave the EU. This will provide the same level of access as the current EU trade preference scheme by granting duty-free, quota-free access to 48 Least Developed Countries, including Kiribati.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the existing EU-Pacific States Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), currently in effect between the EU, Fiji and Papua New Guinea, provides for other Pacific countries to apply to accede to it, including Kiribati. We also continue to support the ongoing EU-CEPA negotiations.</p><p> </p><p>To support trade with developing countries, the Taxation (Cross-Border Trade) Act enables the UK to put in place a UK trade preferences scheme. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/04/2019 answer text <p>Our objective has always been to have a functioning statute book in place by Exit Day and to ensure that the most critical secondary legislation was made by this point.</p><p> </p><p>Each SI was carefully considered on a case-by-case basis.</p><p> </p><p>The considerations and assessments made have meant that the Government has been able to lay the critical secondary legislation required before we exit the EU.</p><p> </p><p>The laying of EU Exit SIs allows Parliament to fulfil its essential scrutiny role. The exact nature of this scrutiny, and the steps required before an SI completes its passage, is dependent on the type of SI. They provide new and existing exporters with practical exporting advice and market know-how, and connect them to DIT's trade missions, sector specialists and wider international network.</p><p>Additionally, peer to peer support is provided through DIT's Export Champion community, part of the Exporting is GREAT campaign. East Midlands has 34 business leaders with a record of export success who help us to inspire other local businesses on their exporting journey: &quot;if we can, you can&quot;.</p><p>The Exporting is GREAT campaign works closely with hundreds of UK companies and scores of partners to encourage more companies to start exporting or to export more.
