answer text <p>The Government’s recently published Transport Investment Strategy aims to make Britain a more attractive place to trade and invest through a series of long term investment programmes, which seek to improve the capacity and connectivity of Britain’s transport infrastructure. In April 2018 the Government published its Port Connectivity Study, which made a series of recommendations for improving road and rail links to our ports, and through the Clean Growth Strategy we are examining cost-effective options to shift more freight from road to rail.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring continuity for the effects of the UK’s existing free trade agreements, including preferential tariff terms, as we leave the EU. To achieve this, the UK will enter into new agreements with partner countries in place of the EU free trade agreements in which we participate as a Member State, in line with WTO rules on Regional Trade Agreements. Necessary changes will be made to ensure that these preferential trading arrangements can continue to operate in a bilateral context. Tariff terms vary from treaty to treaty and we intend to replicate the effect of those already agreed with the EU, as far as possible.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Total UK trade with Asia was worth £216.6 billion in 2016. Total UK trade with countries outside of the EU was worth £584.1 billion in 2016. We are committed to establishing a culture of exporting in the UK and sustaining increased UK trade with the rest of the world, including Asia. We will shortly have appointed 9 HM Trade Commissioners who will be responsible for agreeing, directing and overseeing Regional Trade Plans for all overseas regions.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>I have agreed a number of joint statements with partner countries setting out our mutual ambition to ensure continuity of trading relations as the UK leaves the EU, and have already published these as they have been agreed. In July 2017, my noble Friend, the then Minister of State for Trade Policy (Lord Price) agreed such a statement of intent with ministers from the Southern African Customs Union. The table shows each country, grouped by HM Trade Commissioner Region.</p><p>HM Trade Commissioners (HMTCs) have recently been appointed to 5 DIT regions, with a further 4 to be announced shortly.
