answer text <p>The UK government has been at the forefront of the refugee crisis and is taking every opportunity to work with partners across Europe and in the wider international community to ensure that, collectively, we are able to provide a significant and comprehensive development response.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK is contributing over £1 billion in response to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the region and is urging the international community as a whole to step up life-saving assistance and protection for refugees and vulnerable people.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK lobbied hard to mobilise funding from other donors ahead of the third Kuwait Pledging Conference on 31 March, which raised $3.6 billion. The UK has also co-sponsored UN Security Council Resolutions 2165 and 2191 which has enabled the UN to deliver aid across border without the consent of the Syrian regime in order to assist those in the hardest to reach areas.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>DFID provides humanitarian assistance which includes provision of support to UNHCR and other actors, such as NGOs, who are responsible for delivering assistance to refugees across the world. This includes in DRC, Somalia, South Sudan and other countries. answer text <p>DFID is committed to supporting Climate Smart Development which tackles climate change and reduces poverty in developing countries. Our programmes aim to increase the ability of poor people to cope with the impacts of climate-related shocks, including droughts, floods and storms, and to build their resilience to future changes in climate. The International Climate Fund (ICF) is the UK Government’s vehicle for delivering climate finance assistance and other forms of support, such as technical assistance. Through the ICF the UK government is providing £3.87bn in support between 2011/12 and 2015/16.</p> more like this

answer text <p>DFID Burma’s funding for education through religious organisations has the key policy objective of increasing the number and proportion of children who complete a quality basic education. The programme is delivered through the Myanmar Education Consortium which works with a range of Non-Governmental Organisations, including faith-based organisations, provided that i) the education services are available to members of different religious communities, ii) the project activities supported do not aim to proselytize or explicitly promote a particular religion, iii) where possible promote inter-communal peace and conflict resolution, and iv) do not engage in any action that could promote inter-communal tensions.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK has committed a total of £600 million to the New Alliance over 3 years. This investment is split between commitments to food security, agriculture and nutrition programmes in six partner countries (Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, Malawi and Nigeria), accounting for £480 million, and a range of wider enabling actions including policy tools and agricultural technology.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition group publish a comprehensive report on annual basis that can be found on the New Alliance website.
