answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2018 answer text <p>The National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) will deliver a step change in the UK's response to - and impact on economic crime, including bribery and corruption.</p><p>For the first time, the NECC brings together enforcement and justice agencies (HM Revenue and Customs, the City of London Police, the National Crime Agency, the Serious Fraud Office and the Crown Prosecution Service), other government departments, regulatory bodies and the private sector with a shared objective of driving down economic crime in the UK.</p><p>It will leverage the 'whole system' approach to enhance and coordinate our collective capabilities to target, pursue and dismantle the highest harm serious and organised criminals, including corrupt elites. The Prime Minister has been clear that, in any scenario, there is no question of asking EU citizens resident here to leave. On 21 September, the Prime Minister confirmed that, in the event of no deal, all EU citizens resident in the UK before 29 March 2019 will be able to stay, their rights will be protected, and they will be able to live their lives broadly as they do now.</p><p>On 30 October, the Prime Minister extended that commitment to citizens of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein; and we are close to reaching an agreement with Switzerland. The independent Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said that this increase is largely due to improvements in crime recording by police forces, and the increased willingness of victims to report such crimes to the police. The ONS has also noted that there have been genuine rises in some low-volume, high-harm categories of violence, notably knife crime, gun crime and homicide.
