However, NHS England and Health Education England are considering a wide range of options to support doctors training through the development of the forthcoming long term workforce plan.</p><p>The Department is amending the legislation which governs entry to the specialist and general practitioner (GP) registers. We expect changes to the legislation to be made before the end of 2022. This will enable the General Medical Council to develop new routes to the specialist and GP registers in due course and increase accessibility.</p> more like this

answer text <p>For those who applied to begin training in 2022, Health Education England invested in more than 750 additional training posts across all programmes. For posts commencing in August 2022, 7,894 doctors accepted posts with a fill rate of 99.7%.</p><p>In January 2022, the Department commissioned NHS England to develop a long-term workforce plan. The plan will consider the number of staff and the roles required and will set out the actions and reforms needed to improve workforce supply and retention. The plan is due for completion by the end of 2022 and its conclusions will be available in due course. Funding plans beyond the current Spending Review period will be subject to the outcome of future Spending Reviews.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In 2022, a further £127 million has been invested in the National Health Service maternity workforce and improving neonatal care. This is in addition to the £95 million invested in 2021 to fund a further 1,200 midwives and 100 consultant obstetricians. We have also provided almost £450,000 to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to develop a new workforce planning tool to improve how maternity units calculate medical staffing requirements.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has commissioned NHS England to develop a long-term workforce plan. answer text <p>The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has procured over 150,000 doses of the vaccines used for monkeypox. To maximise the number of people that can be vaccinated, more clinics are now offering the vaccine using safe and clinically approved intradermal administration.</p><p>The UKHSA has delivered targeted, online communications to raise awareness of the symptoms, transmission routes and actions people with suspected monkeypox should take. Supported by NHS England, the UKHSA convenes a weekly monkeypox communications external partners forum. answer text <p>In 2022/23, £45 million funding has been allocated to support the continuation of the national mental health and wellbeing support offer, which includes the 40 mental health and wellbeing hubs for health and social care staff in England. These hubs provide proactive outreach and clinical assessment and enable rapid access to evidence based mental health services and support.</p><p>The Professional Nurse Advocacy programme is delivering staff training and restorative supervision in England and the NHS Practitioner Health service provides a national support service for staff with more complex needs, such as trauma or addictions. The national health and wellbeing offer also includes a role for Wellbeing Guardians at board level.
