answer text <p>We have interpreted ‘waste in hospitals’ to mean clinical, food and general waste.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Ministerial meetings with national and local National Health Service organisations occur on a regular basis and a wide range of issues are discussed. These discussions may have included waste in hospitals but it is difficult to identify when such specific discussions on this topic occurred.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>In England, Public Health England is working with NHS England to develop a system of performance improvement through the use of performance floors, and strengthened governance for screening. The aims of the performance floors are:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>- Improving performance and equity of service over time by reducing the range of variation at a local level.</p><p> </p><p>- Enabling easy identification of poor performance and the setting of objectives and plans for local action, to reduce variation and improve performance.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The breast screening age extension randomisation trial began in 2008 and is investigating the clinical and cost-effectiveness of extending the programme to women aged 47-49 and 71-73. Over two million women have been randomised as part of the trial so far, and we expect that the trial to report in the early 2020s.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>There have not been any recent discussions with clinical and medical bodies regarding the potential link between the use of levodopa and gambling problems. Gambling problems are recognised to be a risk associated with levodopa and dopamine agonists used to treat Parkinson’s disease.</p><p>There have been warnings about impulse disorders, including pathological gambling, in the product information for all medicines containing levodopa since 2006 and these warnings are also reflected in the British National Formulary provided to all prescribers within the National Health Service.</p><p>The risk of abnormal behaviours including pathological gambling is also highlighted in the 2006 NICE Clinical Guideline 35, Parkinson’s Disease: Diagnosis and management in primary and secondary care.</p> more like this

However, commissioners do not ask for data on these specific symptoms.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>If a patient experiences post-surgical issues they should seek advice from their doctor. answer text <p>Clinicians are able to prescribe bisphosphonates for the prevention of breast cancer where there is a clinical need.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS England’s breast cancer clinical reference group has highlighted bisphosphonates as a key issue for potential improvement in survival outcomes in its draft service specification for breast cancer.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS England expects the draft service specification to be finalised and available for dissemination in autumn 2015.
