answer text <p>Off-patent drugs are those whose patent period has expired and they are widely used in the National Health Service now. Drugs can also be prescribed ‘off-label’ outside of their licensed indication(s) to individual patients where doctors consider it is clinically appropriate to do so. Prescribing decisions are rightly a matter for clinicians in discussion with their patients.</p><p> </p><p><br> We are in the process of setting up a round-table discussion with key stakeholders, including NHS England and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to explore opportunities for supporting appropriate use of off-label drugs outside their licensed indications where the evidence supports this.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>We are investing £450 million in earlier diagnosis of cancer, including improving direct general practitioner access to non-obstetric ultrasound to support earlier diagnosis of ovarian cancer.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Public Health England ran a regional Be Clear on Cancer campaign early in 2014 to raise awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. The findings of the pilot will be evaluated in 2015, and this evidence would inform any decision to move from a regional to national campaign.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>As set out in NHS England’s NHS Standard Contract for Neonatal Critical Care each unit must deliver a family-centred care approach, with sufficient emotional and practical support for parents and families, enabling them to make informed choices and play an active part in their babies' care.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Delivering care in a family-centred way helps minimise the physical and psychological impact of neonatal care on the baby and their family, for example by improving psychological outcomes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Family centred care puts the physical, psychological and social needs of both the baby and their family at the heart of all care given. answer text <p>Health Education England (HEE) has advised that the content and standard of medical, nursing and midwifery training, including education on disorders of sexual development, is the responsibility of regulatory bodies, the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The GMC and the NMC are independent professional bodies with the function of promoting and co-ordinating high standards of clinical education ensuring that all students and newly qualified doctors, midwives and nurses are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for professional practice.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Medical schools design curricula for undergraduate medical education and Medical Royal Colleges for postgraduate medical education. In the case of general practitioners the training curricula is designed by the Royal College of General Practitioners. In doing so, they must ensure that teaching meets the standards of the GMC in able to retain GMC recognition of their course.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>However, HEE will work with stakeholders, such as the NMC, to influence training curricula for all medical and non-medical staff.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In regards to continuing professional development of doctors, nurses and midwives, this is the responsibility of individual practitioners and their employers. Local Education and Training Boards (LETBs) have a role in ensuring employers remain committed to continuing professional development and in developing the overall strategy for workforce skills and development in their areas, including on disorders of sexual development.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS England has advised that paediatricians will receive general training on disorders of sexual development, particularly Grid Trainees specialising in paediatric endocrinology. Medical staff who have patients with disorders of sexual development referred to them, will have received specialist training on this condition.</p><p> </p>
