answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/05/2016 answer text <p>The current dual system, where maintained schools and academies (including free schools) have different requirements on a number of key areas including funding, financial compliance, performance oversight, parental complaints and how they are required to adhere to legislation, does not provide consistent expectations on professionals or clarity and assurance for pupils and parents.</p><p>This government believes a single system with all schools as academies, which affords greater autonomy to professionals and is governed by a single legal framework along with clear and robust accountability, will provide a level playing field for all and the conditions for future success. It will give clarity on roles and responsibilities and secure efficiency. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/05/2016 answer text <p>Taking the Spending Review and the Budget together, we have set aside the funding to support a high quality school system where all schools are academies.</p><p>Through the Budget and the Department for Education’s settlement in the Spending Review there are sufficient resources available to take advantage of the opportunities presented by all schools becoming academies. The Government has allocated £300 million that will be available to support schools to convert and, in particular, support sponsors to turn around failing schools. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/05/2016 answer text <p>The Department published a supplementary analysis to the academies annual report in June 2013 which included analysis of the 2012 results for sponsored secondary academies compared to similar local authority maintained schools. The paper has been attached to this answer.</p><p>Our success in meeting our commitment to tackle failing schools by bringing in academy sponsors means that there is no longer a large enough pool of maintained secondary schools to allow a robust approach to identifying similar schools against which we can assess academy performance, such as the matching methodology used in our June 2013 analysis. If segregation results in disadvantage for pupils of one gender, either directly or through inappropriate modelling of gender roles through staff segregation visible to pupils, then it is likely that the standards have not been met and regulatory action by this Department will follow. When full, the school will provide 1,400 places for local children.</p><p> </p><p>Where possible, sites for new free schools are secured with exchange subject to planning approval. Member in the time available before Prorogation.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">In order to complete initial teacher training successfully, all trainees must meet the Teachers’ Standards in full. The standards emphasise the importance of the basics of good teaching, such as strong subject knowledge and effective behaviour management. Following the review teacher training by Sir Andrew Carter, we have a commissioned an expert group to develop a new framework of content for training, based closely on the Teachers’ Standards and reiterating the requirement to place a clear focus on essentials such as the effective development of subject knowledge and being able to identify and respond to special educational needs.
