Since his appointment in July 2018, the Secretary of State for DCMS has met with several civil society representatives. During a recent visit to Salisbury, he met with volunteers from Alabaré, a charity which supports homeless, vulnerable and marginalised people, and discussing how the government can help to remove barriers to volunteering.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Other meetings include visiting the National Citizen Service programmes and meeting leaders from the Charity Commission. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2018 answer text <p>The government announced in January 2018 that £330m from dormant accounts would be distributed to good causes across the UK over the next four years. We have announced that the English portion of this will be allocated to help disadvantaged and disengaged young people transition into work, fund financial inclusion initiatives and, via Big Society Capital, support social investment programmes tackling homelessness and supporting local charities and social enterprises.</p><p> </p><p>Decision making for deploying dormant asset funds in the devolved administrations is fully devolved.</p><p> </p><p>The government encourages volunteering by people from all backgrounds and supports a number of programmes which enable volunteering opportunities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/07/2018 answer text <p>The government remains committed to the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 and believes it can contribute to creating a diverse public services supply market and harness wider benefits for our communities.</p><p>On 25 June, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office, David Lidington announced our intention to lead by example by extending application of the Act across central government. Doing so will not require legislation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/07/2017 answer text <p>The Centre for Social Impact Bonds and the Mutuals Team work closely with other government departments to support the development of SIBs and to increase the number, sustainability and commissioning of public service mutuals. For SIBs, this includes working with DWP to support disengaged young people through the Youth Engagement Fund SIB and cooperation with their Work and Health Unit, the DCLG Rough Sleeping Fund and DfE's work to support care leavers. For mutuals, this includes working closely with the DfE on their Innovation Programme to include public service mutuals as a new model of delivering children's services, and with the libraries team in DCMS for potential mutuals in libraries and cultural services.
