The most recently published evaluation has found that 82% of young people felt more positive about people from different backgrounds, and participants are more likely to use their time to help others after NCS<sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup>. Marketing is a key recruitment driver for NCS, ensuring that more young people across the country benefit from the programme.</p><p> </p><p>The brand refresh is one part of the overall marketing and creative services tender which includes communications planning, creative strategy, brand platform, experience, advertising campaign development, and content production. The £10m figure was stated in a NCS Trust procurement document as an upper limit over 4 years. The actual cost of the contract is likely to be around £1m per year, for 4 years of the contract.</p><p> </p><p>The NCS Trust is forecast to self-generate c. £3m income in the upcoming financial year. The brand refresh element of the marketing and creative services contract in question will be paid from those funds and we can confirm that no government funding will be spent on this element of the contract. The remainder of the contract will be funded by Government funding.</p><p> </p><p><sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup> This figure is based on the 2016 programme evaluation, which can be found <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-citizen-service-evaluation-report-2016" target="_blank">here</a>. The Women’s Aid Federation of England were awarded £1,509,850 for a project addressing domestic abuse, of which £609,040 was designated for onward grants. We believe they are best placed to determine local priorities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/03/2019 answer text <p>The first set of data from Sport England’s world-leading Active Lives: Children and Young People survey was released in December 2018. It shows that only 10% of girls in years 9-11 (13-16) are reaching the Chief Medical Officers’ guidance of 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Levels of activity for girls aged over 16 are captured by the Active Lives (adult) survey, which has a slightly different methodology and so cannot be directly compared. Both surveys are available on Sport England’s website.</p><p> </p><p>Government is committed to addressing the gender gap in physical activity levels for boys and girls, including the drop-off in engagement from primary to secondary school. It is important that girls have access to the right sporting opportunities, both in and out of school.</p><p>This is something government committed to tackle in the Sporting Future strategy. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/03/2019 answer text <p>This is a critical issue and the government has set an ambition for 50% of students at Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, to be women by 2020.</p><p> </p><p>The £1million Digital Skills Innovation Fund was launched in 2018, specifically aiming to help people from underrepresented groups (such as women) to take up digital roles.</p><p> </p><p>The Institute of Coding consortium will be looking to boost diversity in technology-related education and careers. Government has provided £20 million to help fund this consortium.</p><p> </p><p>We are investing £84m of new funding over the next four years to deliver a comprehensive programme to improve the teaching of the computing curriculum. This includes a pilot of targeted activities to identify effective approaches to improve gender balance in computing and increase the number of girls who take up computer science.</p><p> </p><p>The Digital Skills Partnership, launched in the Digital Strategy, is also tackling diversity on a national and local level, such as in Coventry via the West Midlands Local Digital Skills Partnership, where PWC’s Tech She Can programme are piloting their new Tech We Can lesson plans to attract more girls to STEM subjects and tech careers.</p><p> </p><p>We also support the Tech Talent Charter (TTC) which has over 300 signatories, and gives organisations tangible actions they can adopt to become more gender-diverse and commits signatories to measuring the diversity profile of their UK employees in tech roles.</p> answering member constituency Stourbridge answering member printed Margot James question first answered 15/03/2019 09:48:59 answering member 4115 label Biography information for Margot James
