The choice of host for international sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup is at the discretion of the international federation, and its member associations.</p><p>The Government has been clear in its support of the Ukrainian people - and we have helped to build and lead the international response in this area, including building consensus for two collective statements from like-minded nations on the actions we believe should be taken within sport in response to Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2022 answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring that the UK remains the leading global destination for inward investors in filmmaking.</p><p>In recent years, the government’s actions have helped the film and TV industry bounce back from the pandemic, with production now stronger than ever. This includes the £500 million Film and TV Production Restart Scheme, supporting over 100,000 jobs and productions worth more than £3 billion, and the Culture Recovery Fund, supporting over 200 independent cinemas.</p><p>To build on this, and support the industry to not only survive but thrive, further actions have been taken. This includes the government’s current £1.6million annual funding of the British Film Commission, which has driven a near doubling of UK studio capacity, the £28 million UK Global Screen Fund, which is expanding the global reach of UK independent content, and the continued success of our screen sector tax reliefs (for film, high end TV, animation and children’s TV), which in 2021-22 provided £792m of support for over 1000 projects.</p><p>The Government will continue to engage closely with industry, the British Film Institute, and the British Film Commission, to further promote the UK as a filmmaking destination and to build upon the success of 2021, which saw a record-breaking £5.64 billion in screen production in the film and high-end TV sectors alone.</p> answering member constituency Hornchurch and Upminster answering member printed Julia Lopez question first answered 27/10/2022 14:18:39 answering member 4647 label Biography information for Julia Lopez

We continue to work closely with all relevant authorities to ensure that football fans can continue to enjoy the sport whilst attending matches safely.</p><p>This review was commissioned by, and reported to, the English Football Association, with reference made to the Government in four of the recommendations. Our approach with respect to these recommendations is outlined in our evidence to the DCMS Select Committee of the House of Commons’ Inquiry into Safety at Major Sporting Events, a copy of which I will place in the Library.</p><p>The action taken by the Government includes extending football banning orders to cover offences of the selling and taking of Class A drugs at football games (under the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022), commissioning the Sports Ground Safety Authority to conduct and act on research about the stewarding capacity in the events sector, and working with numerous relevant parties on issues related to Zone Ex, with a particular focus on issues faced at Wembley. Fixed broadband and landline suppliers charge a line rental fee which are set out in the terms and conditions that customers agree to when taking out their service.</p><p>We have taken steps to address the affordability concerns of people from low-income households. We have successfully negotiated with providers to introduce a range of low-cost, high-quality social tariffs for as little as £10 for people on Universal Credit and other means-tested benefits. We also secured a set of <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/telecoms-industry-agrees-to-new-cost-of-living-plan-following-government-summit-led-by-digital-secretary-nadine-dorries" target="_blank">commitments </a>from broadband and mobile providers to support people through the global rise in the cost of living. The UK will host the Eurovision Song Contest next year in Liverpool, on behalf of last year’s winner Ukraine. The event will be a great opportunity to showcase the UK’s visitor economy and host people from all over the world.</p><p>VisitBritain’s Business Events Growth Programme forms a key part of the government’s commitment to grow the business events sector. In 2022/23, the programme is on course for a record year of successful applications across a wide distribution of British cities, supporting events in the UK’s strongest growth sectors. So far this financial year, there have been 25 confirmed applications for potential and confirmed events in 11 cities across the UK.</p><p>The Tourism Recovery Plan sets out our long-term vision for growing the sector and our commitment to providing strong government advocacy for business events. It is a fundamental part of operating as a charity for the public benefit.</p><p>Following concerns raised about Mermaids’ approach to safeguarding young people, the Charity Commission has opened a regulatory compliance case into the charity and has contacted its trustees. The opening of a compliance case is not itself a finding of wrongdoing.</p><p>As an independent regulator, the Charity Commission carries out its functions independent of ministerial or government control. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2022 answer text <p>The Government consulted on decriminalisation of TV licence evasion in 2020, and published its response in January 2021. The response to the consultation shows that a significant number of people oppose the criminal sanction with some highlighting the considerable stress and anxiety it can cause for individuals, including the most vulnerable in society, such as older people.</p><p>However, the consultation also identified that changing the sanction for TV licence evasion would have wide-ranging impacts for licence fee payers, as well as potentially leading to a significant increase in fines for those evading payment.</p><p>The Government therefore decided to keep the issue of decriminalisation under consideration.</p><p>More broadly, it is necessary to look at the BBC’s funding model as a whole to ensure it is sustainable in the long-term. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/10/2022 answer text <p>We recognise the importance of ensuring public access to indoor and outdoor pools and that swimming is a great way for people of all ages to stay fit and healthy. The responsibility of providing this access lies at Local Authority level, and the government continues to encourage Local Authorities to support swimming facilities.</p><p>We appreciate the impact rising energy prices will have on organisations of all sizes, including on providers of indoor leisure facilities. In September the government announced the Energy Bill Relief Scheme, under which businesses and other non-domestic energy users (including leisure centres and swimming pools) will be offered support.</p><p>After an initial 6 months of the scheme, the government will provide ongoing focused support for vulnerable industries. There will be a review in 3 months' time to consider where this should be targeted to make sure those most in need get support.</p><p>Sport England has invested £9,619,264 in swimming and diving projects since April 2019, which includes £6,260,502 to Swim England.
