This is up from 93.1% in 2012.</p><p> </p><p>Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) have rolled out several schemes to help improve access to broadband services across the UK. Two voucher schemes, the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme (https://gigabitvoucher.culture.gov.uk/) and the Better Broadband Scheme (https://basicbroadband.culture.gov.uk/) are accessible to residents in Bristol West Constituency. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/03/2019 answer text <p>This is a critical issue and the government has set an ambition for 50% of students at Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, to be women by 2020.</p><p> </p><p>The £1million Digital Skills Innovation Fund was launched in 2018, specifically aiming to help people from underrepresented groups (such as women) to take up digital roles.</p><p> </p><p>The Institute of Coding consortium will be looking to boost diversity in technology-related education and careers. Government has provided £20 million to help fund this consortium.</p><p> </p><p>We are investing £84m of new funding over the next four years to deliver a comprehensive programme to improve the teaching of the computing curriculum. This includes a pilot of targeted activities to identify effective approaches to improve gender balance in computing and increase the number of girls who take up computer science.</p><p> </p><p>The Digital Skills Partnership, launched in the Digital Strategy, is also tackling diversity on a national and local level, such as in Coventry via the West Midlands Local Digital Skills Partnership, where PWC’s Tech She Can programme are piloting their new Tech We Can lesson plans to attract more girls to STEM subjects and tech careers.</p><p> </p><p>We also support the Tech Talent Charter (TTC) which has over 300 signatories, and gives organisations tangible actions they can adopt to become more gender-diverse and commits signatories to measuring the diversity profile of their UK employees in tech roles.</p> answering member constituency Stourbridge answering member printed Margot James question first answered 15/03/2019 09:48:59 answering member 4115 label Biography information for Margot James

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/03/2019 answer text <p>The Civil Society Strategy sets out a long term vision for how government will work for and with civil society, and recognises the importance of responsible business and social enterprise in creating meaningful social value for civil society and the UK economy.</p><p> </p><p>To build on the UK’s reputation as a global leader in social enterprise, this government continues to champion procurement for social value, support campaigns that raise awareness about the positive impact of purposeful businesses, build the social investment market, and support social enterprises to address issues at scale.</p><p>For example, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has committed £3million to supporting the growth and sustainability of mutuals. This includes a package of support announced in January 2018 worth £1.7million to help new mutuals to emerge and existing ones to grow. The Department for Business, Economy and Industrial Strategy has also invested over £56m in the network of 38 Local Growth Hubs across England. In 2017-18 Growth Hubs helped over 130,000 businesses, including social enterprises, and over 8,000 individuals to start-up, thrive and grow. A further £12m has been committed for 2019-20.</p><p>The Business Support Helpline also provides trusted and impartial advice to businesses across England. In 2018 it helped around 31,500 businesses, of which 65% were entrepreneurs and start-ups. These include requirements to prevent underage gambling, offer tools to help consumers manage their gambling and offer the facility to self-exclude.</p><p> </p><p>The publication Gambling Behaviour in Great Britain 2016, which is based on the Health Surveys and reports participation and problem gambling rates, indicated that that rates of low risk gambling were highest among those aged 16 to 24 (5.8%), and we support measures to offer additional protections to this group. NUS has recently announced Gamban, software blocking gambling websites and apps, will be made available for free to students.</p><p> </p><p>The Commission welcomed the work done by the National Union of Students (NUS) to explore gambling behaviour among those at university students, but noted that caution must be taken to use these results in context, as the research did not seek to be representative of the population, and used methodology which may slightly over-estimate the role of gambling in students’ lives.</p><p> </p><p>The Gambling Commission’s Young People Survey 2018 looked at gambling behaviour by 11-16 year olds. The most popular activities were those in which children could take part legally, for example private bets with friends. All operators must have effective policies and procedures designed to prevent underage gambling, and the Commission has a range of powers to act in the case of failures. We recognise there are risks associated with gambling, which is why there is a strong regulatory framework designed to prevent harm, as well as provisions to support those who do experience harm.</p><p> </p><p>Regulation of gambling in Great Britain is governed by the licensing objectives in the Gambling Act 2005, which include keeping gambling fair and open and protecting children and vulnerable people. All gambling companies providing facilities to customers in Great Britain must be licensed by the Gambling Commission and comply with its licence conditions and codes of practice. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/03/2019 answer text <p>We are not aware of such data being published by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).</p><p> </p><p>As an independent non-ministerial department tasked with promoting competition and protecting consumers, the CMA is looking at a wide range of consumer issues in digital markets, including apps and terms and conditions. This includes international co-operation through ICPEN and other networks.</p><p> </p><p>The CMA's Principles for Online and App-based Games set out the steps companies need to take in order to comply with relevant consumer legislation. Use of our waterways by all can be a creative and fun way to engage with the natural world and to stay healthy.</p><p> </p><p>Sport England is actively engaged with British Canoeing and the Canal and River Trust to get more people from all backgrounds active.
