Sport England’s Community Emergency Fund has also provided £210 million directly to support community sport clubs and exercise centres through this pandemic.</p><p>We have also supported elite sports to return to &quot;behind closed doors&quot; competition, which enabled vital broadcast revenue, retained competitive integrity and brought joy to millions of sports fans. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/10/2020 answer text <p>The Government has provided unprecedented support to businesses throughout the pandemic, including a comprehensive and sizable package of direct fiscal support for business through tax reliefs, cash grants and employee wage support. Many sports clubs have benefited from these measures.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Where it can, we will expect the top tiers of professional sport to look at ways in which it can support itself, with government focusing on those most in need. I also welcomed the Premier League announcement to advance funds of £125 million to the EFL and National League to help clubs throughout the football pyramid and encourage the ongoing discussions</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Government recognises the impact that Covid-19 is having on the sporting sector, and has supported elite sports to return to &quot;behind closed doors&quot; competition, which enabled vital broadcast revenue, retained competitive integrity and brought joy to millions of sports fans.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is working with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what can be done to provide further support. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2020 answer text <p>There are generous long-term financial measures available for the whole charity sector which include more than £1.3 billion a year in respect of Gift Aid on donations. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the government has made available short and longer-term support packages to all charities and businesses, including deferring their VAT bills, paying no business rates for their shops next year, and furloughing staff where possible. The Department for Health and Social Care provided financial support to the Race Equality Foundation and Alzheimer’s Society to provide additional services to people with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The money is part of a UK-wide £750 million package of support for the voluntary sector announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in April.</p><p>The Government’s unprecedented £750 million package of support has been made available specifically for charities, social enterprises and the voluntary during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of the £1.57 billion Culture Renewal Fund, organisations will be more able to resume cultural activity, albeit in a socially distanced way, which will increase employment opportunities for freelancers.</p><p>Each organisation that receives money will know what best they can do to support their workforce, including their freelance workforce.</p><p>To complement Government Funding, ACE have made over £115m of funding available for individuals, including freelancers, to apply to. Eight organisations based in Battersea received over £2.2 million of funding.</p><p>There will be further announcements about hundreds more allocations in the coming weeks as we provide additional financial support through the Culture Recovery Fund to assist the UK’s incredible culture, heritage, arts and creative industries.</p><p>In addition, Arts Council England recently reopened the National Lottery Project Fund programme with a budget of £77.9 million which will be available until April 2021 for organisations across the country. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2020 answer text <p>The hardest-to-reach areas for gigabit-capable rollout are those that are unlikely to get gigabit-capable broadband within an acceptable time frame, if at all, through commercial investment alone. We have conducted extensive analysis to identify the hardest to reach areas, based on the estimated costs for the delivery of gigabit-capable networks and the corresponding commercial value of these areas. We are engaging with Ofcom and industry to test our criteria and the underlying data. Based on this modelling, we estimate that a minority of UK households - c20% - require Government intervention to receive a gigabit-capable connection. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/11/2020 answer text <p>In 2018, the Government published the Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review (FTIR), which set out the Government’s strategy to deliver nationwide gigabit capable broadband as soon as possible, including in rural areas, by encouraging greater network competition and commercial investment.</p><p>The strategy focuses on:</p><ul><li><p>Making the cost of deploying gigabit capable networks as low as possible by addressing barriers to deployment, which increase costs and cause delays.</p></li><li><p>Supporting market entry and expansion by alternative network operators through easy access to Openreach’s ducts and poles, complemented by access to other utility infrastructure.</p></li><li><p>Stable and long-term regulation that encourages competitive network investment.</p></li><li><p>Supporting the timely switchover to new gigabit capable broadband networks.</p></li></ul><p>The Government has recognised that not all areas of the country, particularly those in the most rural and remote areas, are likely to benefit from network competition and receive gigabit capable broadband through private investment alone, which is why we have committed to invest £5 billion in supporting deployment in these areas.
