answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2018 answer text <p>According to data from Thinkbroadband (www.thinkbroadband.com) the current superfast broadband coverage (speeds of more than 24Mbps) in the Lewisham, Deptford constituency is 95.5% and in the London Borough of Lewisham it is 97.8%. The Government expects superfast broadband coverage within London to be provided by the private sector and there is therefore no government-funded superfast project. Providers including BT Openreach, Virgin Media and Hyperoptic all have current or planned network coverage within Lewisham.</p><p> </p><p>During 2017 DCMS worked with a number of London Boroughs to ensure proportionate mechanisms are in place to enable access to the highways by broadband providers for network deployment.</p><p> </p><p>Across the UK, the Government and local bodies together are investing £1.7 billion of public money to support vital improvements in broadband services across the UK. Superfast broadband coverage reached 95% of premises in December 2017 – up from 45% in 2010.</p><p> </p><p>For any premises not covered by superfast broadband, as confirmed in our announcement in December 2017, we are pushing ahead with our plans for a Universal Service Obligation (USO) so that by 2020 everyone across the UK will have a clear, enforceable right to request 10 Megabit per second broadband.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Stourbridge answering member printed Margot James question first answered 08/02/2018 17:46:49 answering member 4115 label Biography information for Margot James

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/12/2017 answer text <p>Protecting children and the vulnerable from being harmed or exploited by gambling is a core objective of the regulation of gambling in Great Britain, and a priority for the government. Operators offering gambling services to people in Great Britain must have a licence from the Gambling Commission and must have effective policies and procedures designed to prevent underage gambling.</p><p> </p><p>The Gambling Commission has a range of powers to act where there is a failure to prevent underage gambling. These include powers to suspend or revoke a licence, impose financial penalties or launch criminal action. The Commission is closely monitoring the convergence between video games and gambling and has shown it will take action and prosecute unlicensed gambling on in-game items such as skins.</p><p> </p><p>The government published a consultation on gaming machines and social responsibility in October. This includes measures to strengthen protections around online gambling and gambling advertising. We are focused on improving, and future-proofing, the country's digital infrastructure, with a particular focus on full fibre connectivity.</p><p>We have previously announced a package of measures worth £1.1 billion at Autumn Statement 2016 to support this:</p><ul><li>The Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund, which was launched on 3 July 2017 will provide finance for new fibre investments.</li><li>The Local Full Fibre Networks programme, which will support local bodies in stimulating the market for fibre connectivity in their areas.</li><li>A Bill to enable business rates relief for new fibre build.</li></ul><p>Together, these investments and incentives will stimulate the market to deliver the increase in capacity that is needed.</p><p>For those that do not see improved connectivity through publicly funded and commercial investment, we will ensure universal broadband coverage of at least 10Mbps, so that no home or business is left behind.</p> answering member constituency West Suffolk answering member printed Matt Hancock question first answered 14/09/2017 16:45:29 answering member 4070 label Biography information for Matt Hancock

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/09/2017 answer text <p>Since 2016 all new procurements under the Superfast Broadband Programme have been open to all suppliers to bid. BT, Gigaclear and Airband have all been successful in winning contracts. Prior to this, in 2014 and 2015, we supported seven market test pilot projects with seven different providers, which helped demonstrate new technologies and delivery models for superfast broadband</p><p> </p><p>The Government has announced a package of measures worth £1.1 billion to support full fibre roll out and ensure we have the world class digital infrastructure that we need. This support is available to any provider.
