Following two rounds of applications, 91 funding awards were made in the six areas targeted by the programme. The six targeted areas were:</p><ul><li><p>Bristol and Somerset</p></li><li><p>East London</p></li><li><p>Eastern regions</p></li><li><p>Liverpool City region</p></li><li><p>Tees Valley and Sunderland</p></li><li><p>West Midlands</p></li></ul><p>A list of award recipients allocated funding from this programme, delivered between 2017 and 2021, can be found <a href="https://www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/funding/programmes/youth-investment-fund" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p>In autumn 2019 the government announced a new Youth Investment Fund which is being delivered in two distinct phases.</p><p>Phase One of the Youth Investment Fund (YIF), administered by BBC Children in Need, delivered £12 million of funding in 2021-22 to over 400 local youth organisations in levelling up priority areas in England. Recipients of YIF Phase 1 can be found <a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/phase-1-of-the-youth-investment-fund-successful-grantees" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p>Phase Two of the Youth Investment Fund opened for applications on 1 August 2022. This will transform the government’s offer for young people and level up opportunities right across the country.</p><p>£368 million of our investment has been dedicated to the Youth Investment Fund, which will see 45 local authorities and around 600 district wards in deprived parts of England eligible to apply, paving the way for up to 300 youth facilities to be built or redeveloped over the next three years.</p><p>The areas qualifying for the Youth Investment Fund were chosen on the basis of need using publicly available data sources. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/10/2021 answer text <p>Our priority in the pandemic has been to stabilise youth charities and help them through the impact of this, so that they are in a position to deliver the outcomes envisaged for young people through the Youth Investment Fund (YIF). We have achieved this through our unprecedented charity sector package, from which £100 million has gone to organisations supporting children and young people during the pandemic, including £15.6 million through the Youth Covid Support Fund which provided emergency funding specifically for youth services.</p><p>Following the 2021 Spending Review, we are investing £560 million in youth services in England, including the Youth Investment Fund and ongoing support for the National Citizen Service.</p><p>Access to youth facilities is not felt equally, with young people in many parts of the country struggling to gain access to them. The YIF will seek to remedy this, creating and expanding youth facilities to level up opportunity in left behind places, giving young people access to support from youth workers and enabling them to engage in beneficial activities. Full details of the YIF's eligibility criteria will be announced in due course.</p><p>Government funding for the National Youth Agency has led to an increase in qualified youth workers and sustained professional standards within the youth work sector. Over the past two years we have worked with the National Youth Agency to help more than 900 youth workers gain qualifications and institute a new youth work apprenticeship. In the recently announced Spending Review, £30m of this was committed as capital investment for 2021-22. This will provide investment for new and refurbished safe spaces for young people, so they can access support from youth workers, and positive activities out of school, including sport and culture. Further details of the timetable for allocation of YIF funding in 2021-22, and how the funding will be distributed will be announced in due course.</p><p>The department is currently undertaking a review of all DCMS spending on services for young people, including future plans for the Youth Investment Fund, which we anticipate will conclude in May this year.</p><p>Government recognises the significant impact of Covid-19 on young people, particularly the most vulnerable, and on the youth services that support them. The £16.5m Youth Covid-19 Support Fund was announced to protect the immediate future of grassroots and national youth organisations across the country.
