The dataset for 2022 shows the number of libraries in England (both statutory and non-statutory) from April 2010 to 31 December 2022, and includes information on the number of mobile vehicles operating. The funding and costs of providing mobile library provision is a matter for individual local authorities; therefore, no such data are held by DCMS.</p><p>The Government’s Libraries Improvement Fund is investing £20.5 million in over 90 library services to upgrade their buildings and technology to reflect the changing needs of users. This funding includes supporting the purchase of a new mobile library vehicle in North Yorkshire and also in Warwickshire to deliver the first sensory mobile public library in the UK.</p><p>We will be publishing a refreshed Government strategy for public libraries later this year, informed by the independent review of English public libraries conducted by Baroness Sanderson of Welton. Its recent, specially-curated exhibition, 'Soup, Socks and Spiders! Art of the Everyday' focusing on still lifes, was shared with people in Nuneaton, Walsall, Ashfield, Wigan, Rotherham, Stoke-on-Trent, Tarporley and Runcorn. I was delighted to learn more about the education and engagement this involved, and to be able to express my Department’s support for the project. It is for local authorities to identify the needs of local residents and to fund and provide a library service that meets those needs.</p><p>His Majesty’s Government has provided an additional £600 million on top of the £64 billion Local Government Finance Settlement for 2024-25 — an increase of 7.5% in cash terms. This uplift will help to reduce pressure on councils’ budgets, and protect services including public libraries.</p><p>We will be publishing a refreshed Government strategy for public libraries later this year, informed by the independent review of English public libraries conducted by Baroness Sanderson of Welton, which was published in January <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/an-independent-review-of-english-public-libraries-report-and-government-reponse" target="_blank">here</a>. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2024 answer text <p>The Department for Culture, Media and Sport promotes cultural relations around the world, working closely with the Foreign, Commonwealth &amp; Development Office, the Department for Business &amp; Trade, and the British Council to ensure that culture and the creative industries are embedded in the UK’s diplomatic activities and that the importance of these sectors – which contribute so much to our economy, our way of life, and our international reputation – are properly reflected.</p><p>The British Embassy in Skopje has prioritised the promotion of bilateral cultural relations and continues to build links with local cultural institutions and artists, particularly those with connections to the UK.</p><p>The British Council promotes exchange between the Western Balkans and the UK’s education sector and creative industries, and supports people and institutions in developing enterprising cultural offerings. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2024 answer text <p>The Government is committed to increasing women and girls’ participation in sport and physical activity.</p><p>Our sport strategy, Get Active, includes the target of getting 1.25 million more women and 1 million more children active by 2030. This will be supported by Government investment of over £600 million to boost equal access in school sport.</p><p>Government is delivering an historic level of direct investment of over £327 million between 2021-25, through the Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme, to provide up to 8,000 new and improved multi-sport grassroots facilities and pitches across the whole of the UK.</p><p>All projects on the Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme are assessed against their ability to deliver increased participation by under-represented groups, including women and girls, and all projects over £25,000 in England must have an equal access women and girls plan in place.</p><p>This includes the £30 million Lionesses Futures Fund, which will deliver up to 30 artificial pitches across the country, creating opportunities to play for almost 8,000 women and girls.</p><p>The Government welcomes the Women and Equalities Select Committee’s recent report on ‘Health Barriers for Girls and Women in Sport’ and accepts most of the reports recommendations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2024 answer text <p>The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which operates independently of Government, is responsible for regulating online advertising in the UK through its advertising codes. These codes state that alcohol adverts must not link it with social or sexual success, imply that it is indispensable or include elements that appeal particularly to children. Online platforms have also introduced stringent measures to monitor alcohol ads and ensure safe advertising, such as age gating and age verification.</p><p>The Government’s Online Advertising Programme aims to increase protections for children and young people under 18 from online exposure to advertisements for products and services that are illegal to be sold to them, including alcohol.
