answer text <p>The Research Excellence Framework (REF) was undertaken by the four higher education funding bodies for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. REF 2014 was managed by the REF team based at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) on behalf of these bodies.
