answer text <p>BEIS Ministers regularly engage with their counterparts in other departments on clean growth matters including ultra low and zero emission vehicle policy. We set out in our Road to Zero strategy published last year our mission to put the UK at the forefront of the design and manufacturing of zero emission vehicles and for all new cars and vans to be effectively zero emission by 2040.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s has also committed £1 billion with industry to 2023 through the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), to research, develop and commercialise the next generation of low carbon technologies and £274 million committed by Government to the Faraday Battery Challenge to support the design, development and manufacture of electric batteries.</p><p> </p><p>Our Future of Mobility 2040 mission is ambitious but achievable and we believe it is a key part of the answer to our long term transport air quality and greenhouse gas issues. It puts us at the forefront of the global transition to zero emission vehicles. We have consulted extensively with stakeholders across numerous sectors including environmental groups, the automotive industry and other experts, and believe we have identified the right balance between our environmental ambitions and deliverability, giving consumers and industry time to transition.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to supporting the transition to zero emission vehicles, which can cut carbon, reduce air pollution and help us grow the economy as part of our Industrial Strategy.</p>

Ofgem estimates that the price cap saves the average customer £75-£100 each year, compared to what they would be paying without the price cap, and a total of £1 billion each year. answer text <p>The Government recognises the critical role that post offices play in communities and for small businesses across the UK; this is why the Government committed to safeguard the post office network and protect existing rural services. The overall number of post offices across the UK remains at its most stable in decades with over 11,500 branches thanks to significant Government investment of over £2 billion since 2010.</p><p>The Government welcomes the development of banking services at post offices and the recently announced increased fees for postmasters. answer text <p>The automotive manufacturing industry invested £3.6bn in business research and development in 2017, the latest year for which figures are available. This accounted for over 15% of all UK business research and development and is a record high for the sector. Unfortunately consistent data across EU countries are not available.</p><p> </p><p>Automotive investment in business R&amp;D has increased rapidly from 2010 when it stood at £1.2bn (an increase of 190% in nominal terms).</p><p> </p><p>Figures for 2018 will be published by the ONS in November 2019, once finalised company accounts for the year are available.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The 2014 revision to the Right to Request Flexible Working provided all employees with the same access to flexible working, seeking to eliminate the view that flexible working is only for parents/carers.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is keen to ensure that the existing “right to request” legislation continues to have the desired effect and has committed to review its impact in 2020. Government has also announced that it will consult on asking employers to consider whether a job can be done flexibly, and to make that clear when advertising.</p><p> </p><p>In parallel, the Government is looking to work with employers on a voluntary basis. We have established a Flexible Working Taskforce with representatives from across Whitehall, from key organisations like Carers UK and Working Families, the TUC and key business groups to promote wider understanding and implementation of flexible working practices.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In February 2018, the Government published its assessment of the implications for business and international trade in the UK, if it leaves the EU without a deal on March 29. This assessment remains valid.</p><p>The UK and the EU share a strong commercial interest in maintaining the competitiveness of our automotive industries, which rely on highly integrated and sophisticated just in time supply chains. Under a no-deal outcome, the automotive industry would face additional costs and burdens as a result of new customs procedures, compliance requirements and reductions in traffic flows across the Channel.</p><p>BEIS ministers and officials regularly engage with the automotive industry, bilaterally, via trade associations, and through the Department’s participation in the Automotive Council, to discuss no-deal risks and mitigations.</p><p> </p> more like this
