answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/10/2014 answer text <p>The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) maintains a central record of the number of cases of child abuse, referred for a pre-charge decision or prosecuted, by way of a monitoring flag.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The CPS definition of child abuse covers any case where the victim was under 18 years of age at the time of the offence and includes physical, emotional and sexual criminal offences, as well as neglect of a child and Non-recent child abuse where the victim is now an adult. It includes allegations or crimes perpetrated by both adults and under 18s. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/06/2014 answer text <p>The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) does not hold records of the number of cases reported to the police or of the number the police decide not to proceed with. A record is held of the number of cases where the CPS has been asked to make a charging decision and the decision made; either to charge or take no further action.</p><p>However, no central records of the alleged offence(s) considered at the pre-charge decision are held by the CPS.
