answer text <p>Small employers, defined as those who have paid £45,000 or less in gross national insurance in the preceding tax year, can recover all of the Statutory Maternity, Adoption, Paternity and Shared Parental Pay they pay out plus an additional amount in compensation for the employer’s share of the National Insurance Contributions (NICs) due on the statutory payments.</p><br /><p>The current rate of compensation paid to small employers is 3%. The Statutory Maternity Pay (Compensation of Employers) and Miscellaneous Amendment Regulations 1994 set out how compensation is calculated and, in addition, require it to be assessed annually which is done alongside the annual uprating of benefits.</p><br /><p>The rate derived for Statutory Maternity Pay is also applied to Statutory Adoption, Paternity and Shared Parental Pay.</p> more like this

answer text <p>All Government Departments have clear objectives to increase workforce diversity, including disabled people.<del class="ministerial"> I</del> <ins class="ministerial">We </ins>have been working with officials across Whitehall to assess the proportion of disabled people employed by Government, and to identify ways to improve those numbers.</p><br /><p>As at 31 March 2015, 8.9% of Civil Service employees declared their disability status, up from 7.6% in 2010 and 8.8% in 2014.</p><br /><p>With reference to commissioning, successful bidders for contracts in excess of 12 months are required to submit annual Diversity &amp; Equality Delivery Plans, workforce monitoring data and Contractor and any Sub-contractor’s policy/policies and procedures for preventing unlawful discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity in respect of a range of groups, including people with a disability. <del class="ministerial">We will continue to seek opportunities to encourage, and offer support to, employers to employ more disabled people.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">This Government is committed to being an exemplar employer and will continue to support employers and disabled people to create opportinities and increase disability emplyment.</ins></p>

answer text <p>Government has provided £1.6 million of funding for nine Carers in Employment pilots in North Tyneside, Northamptonshire, Cheshire West, Gateshead, Bury, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Staffordshire and Stoke and Sefton, to explore how carers can be supported to stay in, or return to paid work alongside their caring responsibilities. They began running in all nine Local Authorities from April 2015. These pilot projects support local businesses to make the best use of flexible working arrangements, maximise the use of assistive technology; improve carers’ access to information and resources, and support carers to set up micro-businesses that will expand the local care market.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In the Autumn Statement on Wednesday 25 November, the Chancellor announced a real terms increase in funding to help people with health conditions and disabilities including those in receipt of the support component of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), return to, and remain in, work.</p><br /><p>Government will be launching a new ‘Work and Health Programme’ - restructuring our current provision so that it provides the best possible support for people with health conditions or disabilities, including those classed as economically inactive due to long term sickness or disability.</p><br /><p>At least £115m of funding will go to the Work and Health Unit, including a work and health innovation fund to test new ways to join up health and employment to help people with disabilities and health conditions to return to and stay in work.</p><br /><p>Government will publish a White Paper in the New Year that will set out further reforms to improve support for people with health conditions and disabilities and further reduce the disability employment gap.</p><br /> <br />
