answer text <p>The Intercity Express Programme contracts requires the daily provision of trains of the correct formation to operate the planned timetable.</p><p> </p><p>As there has been full transfer of delivery risk passed to the train supplier, when a train provided that is shorter than that planned there is a reduction in the lease charge.</p><p> </p><p>The effect of this is that Hitachi will suffer the financial impact of these circumstances arising from the loss of income.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Seating on Class 700, Class 707, Class 717 and Class 800 trains, is required to both address comfort of passengers and conform to the relevant design standards, which includes addressing fire safety and crash worthiness.</p><p> </p><p>Train operators as the end users for the new trains have worked with the manufacturers to deliver seating that is compliant with the requirements, including testing with passenger representatives.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The rolling stock market is a private sector one and the Government is committed to giving greater flexibility to the market to deliver innovative rolling stock solutions to the benefit of the passenger and the taxpayer. For example, as part of the Northern franchise competition, the Invitation to Tender, published on 27 February 2015, requires bidders to deliver 120 new carriages suitable for use on non-electrified routes.
