<p>Improving air quality is a top priority for this Government. We have put in place
a £3.8 billion plan to deliver cleaner transport that includes £130 million already
invested to support the purchase of over 1,700 low emission buses and supporting infrastructure
and a further £5 billion announced by the Prime Minister to deliver a further 4,000
new zero emission vehicles and improve services.</p><p> </p><p>Actions we take to
cut pollution from transport will improve air quality for users of public transport.
In light of COVID-19, the Department’s Safer Transport guidance for operators encourages
consideration of how to increase ventilation and air flow inside public transport
vehicles. Where possible, transport operators should ensure that a fresh air supply
is consistently flowing through public transport vehicles. The guidance is available
online.</p>
