answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/02/2020 answer text <p>My Department recognises that older people experience a range of complex barriers and face multiple exclusions in developing countries across the globe.</p><p>Baroness Sugg has direct responsibility for ageing as part of her portfolio on inclusive societies.</p><p>Ageing is an important factor in DFID’s efforts to tackle extreme poverty, ensure inclusion and in our approach to ‘leave no-one behind’. This is reflected in our departmental strategy papers. Both the Disability Inclusion Strategy and the Strategic Vision for Gender Equality take a life-course approach, ensuring the delivery of transformative change for people all ages.</p><p>We are also supporting governments to make vital social protection systems more inclusive of older people. In Uganda, DFID continues to build on its partnership with the Government of Uganda to deliver a Senior Citizen Grant. This includes funding for off-grid solar projects to reach the rural poor in Africa, providing technical assistance to improve African countries’ renewable energy policies, and investing in clean energy research and innovation such as the Faraday Battery Challenge and the Ayrton Fund. In particular, the programme focuses on addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer; and driving improvements in quality of care to reduce infection, injury or premature death. This will directly benefit women and poorer groups who are often particularly affected as a result of these health challenges. Adolescent girls are amongst the target group.</p><p>By December 2019, 377,003 children had been reached with protective services under phase one and two of the programme. Disaggregated data on sex was not available for phase one and not available for adolescence age in both phases. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/02/2020 answer text <p>DFID has disbursed $1,036 million to the Private Investment Development Group (PIDG) between 2002 and 2018.</p><p>During this 16-year period, PIDG has made a number of infrastructure investments in the poorest countries to increase access to power, some of which use fossil fuels to generate electricity. Of these investments, (a) $396.6 million has been to projects using gas as a fuel source, (b) $1.7 million using coal, (c) $141.9 million using oil, and (d) $210.2 million with mixed or hybrid fuel sources. The coal funding was for early-stage advisory services provided in 2008 to a prospective power project in Indonesia.</p><p>Over the same period, PIDG has invested $711 million in renewable power projects.</p><p>PIDG does not invest in the extraction of fossil fuels, with the exception of one-off funding of $500,000 (£273,000) in 2004 for technical assistance to the Government of Mozambique on the feasibility of establishing a coal mine in the town of Moatize in Mozambique. No follow-on funding was provided to support this project. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/02/2020 answer text <p>Environmental sustainability and tackling climate change are crucial parts of international development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.</p><p>All DFID programming is required to comply with a set of Smart Rules and ‘avoid doing harm’ by creating or exacerbating environmental damage. DFID has two Smart Guides to help in this regard: (i) the <em>Environmental and Social Safeguards Guide</em>; and (ii) the <em>Climate and Environment Guide</em>.</p><p>DFID expects all organisations it funds to minimize any adverse impacts on local people, their livelihoods, culture and the environment. This is set out in the Supplier Code of Conduct.
