We support the ongoing peace process, including by providing funding through the Conflict Stability and Security Fund to region led monitoring bodies – the Revitalised Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) and the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM). We also provide support to civil society to help hold the parties accountable to the peace deal, and to the South Sudan Council of Churches for their dialogue and reconciliation work. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/03/2019 answer text <p>The Government of Malawi and UN have reported that around 730,000 people have been affected by flooding in Malawi linked to the Cyclone Idai weather system, with over 87,000 displaced, and 59 deaths.</p><p> </p><p>DFID is working closely with partners to respond quickly. The Secretary of State has approved £22 million to victims across the region. We are also supporting psycho-social support and trauma counselling to affected children. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/04/2019 answer text <p>UNHCR’s Global Trends: Forced Displacement in 2017 is an important tool in informing our support for refugees and internally displaced persons around the world.</p><p> </p><p>At least half of DFID aid is focussed on fragile and conflict affected states and regions – the drivers of forced displacement. DFID’s aid programmes seek to address drivers of conflict, instability and lack of economic opportunities which in turn help to tackle some of the root causes of displacement. By creating jobs and livelihoods, improving education, and facilitating labour mobility we are giving people more opportunities to build a decent life at home or in their region.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Government has been actively involved in the development of the UN <em>Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration</em> and the <em>Global Compact on Refugees</em>, both of which have now been adopted. These two Compacts offer a cohesive and forward-leaning framework to improve the international response to large movements of people.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is also supporting the UN and member states to set up a High-Level Panel on internally displaced persons. Beira – a city of half a million people in central Mozambique has been cut off since the weekend with no water or electricity. Other areas are under water.</p><p> </p><p>The Government of Mozambique is leading the response. They are experts in disaster management but are overwhelmed. They are being supported by UN agencies, international and local NGOs.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has responded quickly. The Secretary of State has approved up to £22 million to support the people affected by the cyclone.
