answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/03/2020 answer text <p>Historically Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) has not measured the Green House Gases emissions associated with its investments.</p><p>However, it has now developed a methodology to measure the Green House Gases emissions associated with its investment portfolio and conducted an assessment of its portfolio beginning with the highest emitting sector, which is energy.</p><p>It will disclose the Green House Gases footprint associated with its investment portfolio going forwards as part of its commitment to Taskforce for Climate Related Financial Disclosures reporting from this year onwards (with the first disclosure in 2021).</p><p>Data on all PIDG investment commitments are available online via its Results Monitoring Database and its annual reports (<a href="https://www.pidg.org/" target="_blank">https://www.pidg.org/</a>). This reflected our commitment to put climate change at the heart of our development programmes. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/03/2020 answer text <p>DFID is funding a number of interventions to tackle plastic waste and single use plastics in developing countries.</p><p>To support the Commonwealth Clean Ocean Alliance launched in London in April 2018, DFID is providing expertise to developing countries that signed up to meet the ambitions of the Alliance. This includes working towards eliminating single use plastics.</p><p>In addition, DFID is funding projects to increase recycling of plastic and improve waste management in Uganda, Ghana and Vanuatu. DFID is also funding innovative research and supports UK charities working on plastic recycling and waste management though the Small Charities Challenge Fund and UK Aid Match. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/03/2020 answer text <p>We are gravely concerned about escalating regime and Russian military action and its humanitarian impact in North West Syria, where more than 948,000 people have been displaced since 1 December, of which 80% are women and children. Many of these people have been displaced multiple times and many more are at risk of imminent further displacement.</p><p>In response to increased needs, this financial year DFID has allocated £118 million to organisations delivering aid cross border primarily into North West Syria. This has helped to provide hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people with food, clean water, shelter, and healthcare including psychosocial support. The EU has contracted the Georg Eckert Institute, a specialist textbook analysis centre, to lead this review.</p><p>To ensure the review could begin immediately on the signing of the contract, the UK commissioned the Georg Eckert Institute to produce an inception report to establish its methodology in advance.</p><p>We understand from the EU that an interim report covering grade 8 – 10 books will be completed in Spring 2020, with the full report covering all the books due later in the year. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2020 answer text <p>The Department recognises that older people experience a range of complex barriers and face multiple exclusions in developing countries across the globe.</p><p>Baroness Sugg has direct responsibility for ageing as part of her portfolio on inclusive societies.</p><p>Ageing is an important factor in DFID’s efforts to tackle extreme poverty, ensure inclusion and in our approach to ‘leave no-one behind’. This is reflected in our departmental strategy papers. Both the Disability Inclusion Strategy and the Strategic Vision for Gender Equality take a life-course approach, ensuring the delivery of transformative change for people all ages.</p><p>We are also supporting governments to make vital social protection systems more inclusive of older people. In Uganda, DFID continues to build on its partnership with the Government of Uganda to deliver a Senior Citizen Grant. They are vital to DFID’s delivery capability, humanitarian response and research effort, and they actively engage with DFID on the international agenda for development, across a range of policy and technical issues. Funding opportunities include the Small Charities Challenge Fund, UK Aid Direct and UK Aid Match. However, a full answer to how much public funding has been given to civil society organisations could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.</p><p>DFID does not fund campaigning, fundraising, or advocacy activities. Gavi has immunised over 760 million children, saving 13 million lives from preventable diseases. The UK is proud to have played a significant role in delivering these extraordinary results.</p><p>Children born to the poorest families, with the lowest levels of education, and living in the hardest to reach areas are the least likely to get vaccinations. Our priority as hosts of the Global Vaccine Summit 2020 will be to help Gavi secure the funding it needs to further deliver its life-saving work. As part of our influencing efforts, the UK will press for new strategies to address the poverty barriers and identify those children who miss out on life-saving vaccines. This includes promoting equitable coverage of immunisation to leave no-one behind and ensure vaccines are available for the most vulnerable. We are making progress against our 2013 N4G commitments as follows:</p><ul><li>DFID has already exceeded its commitment to invest £2.13 billion from 2013 to 2020 in nutrition sensitive programmes – to date we have spent £2.7 billion on this type of programme;</li><li>We have also unlocked the full amount of nutrition matched funding committed in 2013 – this has leveraged £560 million more for nutrition from other donors; and</li><li>We are working to ensure we reach the target to invest £575 million on direct nutrition services by the end of this year.</li></ul><p>DFID officials are working closely with the Government of Japan to prepare for the 2020 Nutrition for Growth Summit. This will be an important opportunity to secure new commitments to nutrition, to set the world on a better track to achieve the Global Goals and to help achieve our ambition of ending preventable deaths by 2030.
