This enables around 25,000 young Palestinians to get an education, provides up to 3,700 immunisations for children, and around 185,000 medical consultations annually. UK support to the Palestinian Authority is governed by a Memorandum of Understanding, which includes the Palestinian Authority’s commitment to uphold the principle of non-violence. We recognise the benefits and opportunities that co-operatives can offer for small scale farmers, for example as a way to collectively negotiate better prices, increase productivity and access financial services. Co-operatives can also aggregate farmer produce to increase their selling power to the market or set up their own processing, trading or financing facilities. For example DFID funds the International Organisation for Migration to support emergency healthcare interventions, a field hospital outside Mosul, ambulance transportation, and Mobile Medical Teams to deliver lifesaving health services. Between 10% and 20% of contracts awarded each year are to not for profit organisations. The majority of DFID’s spend through not for profit organisations is via accountable grants rather than contracts.</p><p> </p><p>DFID routinely publishes information on contracts awarded through our central Procurement and Commercial Department (PCD) on the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/contracts-finder" target="_blank">Contracts Finder</a> website. In April 2017 the Secretary of State announced that the UK Government would invest in programmes to protect over 200 million people from the ill health caused by Neglected Tropical Diseases, which affect some of the world’s poorest people. DFID also continues to be a leader in the fight against malaria through our support to the Global Fund, our investment in research and the programmes we support in affected countries.
