Funding allocations to countries were flexible to allow scale up or down as required. I reiterated that UK Export Finance will offer up to £750 million of export finance in any given year for infrastructure projects in Iraq under its ten year MoU.</p><p>A large number of private sector companies from numerous nations also attended, highlighting the interest from potential foreign investors. In some cases technology can provide valuable advantages in terms of efficiency and cost effectiveness, as well as enabling the ability to respond rapidly to crises and assist those in the hardest to reach places.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has recently commissioned a review of the potential of a number of Frontier Technologies including Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology, which will help us identify potential applications as well as risks.</p><p> </p><p>There are a small number of examples of UAV technologies currently being trialled in DFID programmes. This includes a small-scale trial of UAV mapping to inform disaster preparedness, mitigation and response efforts in Nepal. Economic recovery has been slow and uncertain.</p><br /><p>Delays setting up the National Reconstruction Authority and unrest in the border area with India, which has closed most border crossings for over 6 weeks, make economic recovery challenging. We are pressing the government to prioritise the post-disaster response.</p><br /><p>The UK is providing up to £35 million for technical assistance to the Government of Nepal to directly mobilise more than £600 million of private investment into growth-boosting sectors, such as export-focused hydropower projects, indirectly generating better-paying jobs for unskilled and low-skilled Nepalese.
