question text	To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, with reference to her Department's Memorandum of Understanding with the Palestinian Authority (PA), what assessment she has made of President Abbas's remarks to the Palestinian Central Council on 28/10/18 that the salaries of our martyrs, prisoners, and wounded are a red line and the martyrs and their families are sacred. We will continue to pay to the wounded and the prisoners. Even if we have one plaster left, it will be for them, and not for the living.

In November 2016, the Secretary of State announced new funding to support 40 grassroots organisations with the local knowledge and expertise to address Female Genital Mutilation and child, early and forced marriage. Immediately after the 2015 earthquake, the Department for International Development (DFID) provided humanitarian relief for thousands of displaced people. This included reaching over 250,000 people with shelter support and providing over 200,000 people with clothes, blankets and mattresses.</p><p>We are now supporting reconstruction. We have already repaired water supplies for over 33,000 people, and rehabilitated 114km of remote trails. We are working with the Nepali Government to find solutions for all households who remain displaced by the earthquake. The UK has provided 19.7 million food rations, 6.7 million health consultations, and over 2 million vaccines to people in need across Syria. However, our partners tell us that current priorities are to improve security and access to food and medical care. We welcome the progress made to enable the UN to restart deliveries of essential supplies. From 2010 to 2016, DFID provided £18 million to Fairtrade International to support their work and strengthen the global Fairtrade system. For example DFID funds the International Organisation for Migration to support emergency healthcare interventions, a field hospital outside Mosul, ambulance transportation, and Mobile Medical Teams to deliver lifesaving health services. In April 2017 the Secretary of State announced that the UK Government would invest in programmes to protect over 200 million people from the ill health caused by Neglected Tropical Diseases, which affect some of the world’s poorest people. DFID also continues to be a leader in the fight against malaria through our support to the Global Fund, our investment in research and the programmes we support in affected countries. Fair and ethical trade standards have an important contribution to make to this especially in combatting modern slavery and child labour. Officials are engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including business, standards organisations and NGOs on these issues. DFID has been a long term partner of Fairtrade and is currently supporting innovative new work under the Fairtrace initiative.
