In particular, the programme focuses on addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer; and driving improvements in quality of care to reduce infection, injury or premature death. This will directly benefit women and poorer groups who are often particularly affected as a result of these health challenges. In October 2014 DFID last received an update on progress from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), who have been developing the RTS,S vaccine with the non-profit PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI). This has contributed to averting 3.3 million malaria deaths between 2001 and 2012 and the shrinking of the global malaria footprint. We have installed dual flush mechanisms, waterless urinals and have also installed Passive Infrared (PIR) Shut off Valves in all our toilets. We also have a water leak monitoring system at our office in London. DFID meets the industry benchmark of good practice with water usage of between 4cm³ to 6cm³ per FTE.
