It is important that all have the right to speak freely, and make legitimate criticisms, and that a strong legal framework provides the appropriate space to do so. Equally, hatred or prejudice against an individual because of their religion will not be tolerated.</p><p>The Crown Prosecution Service uses definitions agreed with the National Police Chiefs' Council to identify religiously motivated incidents/crimes: “Any incident/crime which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by a hostility or prejudice based on a person's religion or perceived religion.&quot; This allows space for legitimate criticism.</p><p>Under the Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006, which covers the offences of stirring up religious hatred, there is a freedom of expression defence contained in Section 29J, which confirms that nothing in the Act &quot;... prohibits or restricts discussion, criticism or expressions of antipathy, dislike, ridicule, insult, or abuse of particular religions, or the beliefs or practices of its adherents.&quot;</p><p>The Government will continue to protect people’s legitimate rights and freedoms whilst also remaining committed to tackling hate crime.</p> answering member printed Viscount Younger of Leckie question first answered 21/01/2020 16:16:07 answering member 4169 label Biography information for Viscount Younger of Leckie

We have pushed building owners and local authorities hard to identify and remediate unsafe buildings. When we are notified about additional buildings these are reflected in the published data.</p><p>We have also worked closely with local authorities and Fire and Rescue Services to ensure that interim measures are in place in all buildings until the cladding is replaced. Working with the Home Office, the Local Government Association and the National Fire Chiefs Council government has established a protection board to provide greater assurance to central government of Fire and Rescue Service protection activity. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2020 answer text <p>The Government is committed to promoting fairness and transparency for homeowners and ensuring that consumers are protected from abuse and poor service. We are moving forward with legislation to ensure freehold homeowners can access equivalent rights to leaseholders to challenge the reasonableness of estate rent charges and go to the Tribunal to change their managing agent if necessary.</p><p>Last year, the Government asked the Regulation of Property Agents working group, chaired by Lord Best, to also look at how service charges for leaseholders - and estate rent charges for resident freehold homeowners - could be made more transparent. The group also considered in what circumstances other fees and charges, such as administration charges or permission fees (which affect both leaseholders and freeholders) are justified or whether they should be capped or banned. The working group’s final report was published on 18 July and we are considering the recommendations set out in the report.
