answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/06/2020 answer text <p>The statement of changes to the Immigration Rules laid before Parliament on 14 May will amend the EU Settlement Scheme so family members of the people of Northern Ireland can apply for immigration status on broadly the same terms as family members of Irish citizens.  This delivers the commitment made in the New Decade, New Approach agreement which restored the Northern Ireland Executive in January 2020.</p><p> </p><p>Those living in Northern Ireland and currently eligible for leave under the EU Settlement Scheme have been able to make an application since the scheme opened fully in March 2019. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/06/2020 answer text <p>We have been reviewing the level of the cash allowances provided to asylum seekers who would otherwise be destitute, as we do each year to ensure that they remain capable of meeting their essential living needs.</p><p> </p><p>As a result of this work, the standard allowance has been raised to £39.60 per week from £37.75 per week, an increase of around 5%. This increase is significantly higher than the current general rate of inflation, which Office of National Statistics data shows was only 0.5% in the 12 months period to May.</p><p> </p><p>The level of the allowance is not linked to social security benefits.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to the allowance, we also provide free accommodation, with utilities and council tax paid for and there is free access to the NHS and free access to education for their children.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has a generous record in supporting asylum seekers. Last year, we made around 20,000 grants of asylum or protection (one of the higher figures in Europe), as well as offered protection to 3,000 Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children – the highest number of any country in Europe. In addition, we have directly resettled around 20,000 people from the most dangerous areas of the world (especially Syrians) in the UK over the last 5 years. Finally, we spend around £14 billion per year in Overseas Aid, helping millions of people around the world. The decision to reopen these is taken in conjunction with our commercial partners and is subject to the easing of restrictions in locations by host Governments and our ability to provide an effective service in that location. This has included assuring the sites used by Thales (formerly Gemalto) to produce the UK passport against the UK Security Policy Framework. In addition, they have been independently certified to the international standard for the Management of Security Printing Processes, ISO 14298 and the international standard for Information Security Management, ISO27001.</p><p>All passports continue to be personalised with the passport holder’s personal details such as name and photograph, in the United Kingdom. We continue to monitor the situation closely and take these exceptional circumstances into account.</p><p> </p><p>A fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner whose wedding or civil partnership is delayed due to COVID-19, can request an extension until 31 July by updating their records with the Coronavirus Immigration Team. (https://gov.smartwebportal.co.uk/homeoffice/public/ho_form.html)</p><p> </p><p>The family Immigration Rules currently allows for an extension of leave if there is good reason for a wedding or civil partnership not taking place during the initial six-month period of leave to enter. Restrictions on giving notice to marry or delay to a wedding or civil partnership due to Covid-19 will be considered a good reason under this policy. Applicants are still required to pay the application fee and charges.
