answer text
The information requested is not held centrally.

Since the general practice contract Regulations were amended in 2020, there has been a contractual requirement for all women to be offered a maternal postnatal consultation, between six and eight weeks postnatally. As defined in the contract, this is a consultation with a general medical practitioner at which the physical and mental health and well-being of the women is reviewed. The consultation should be offered face to face, but where there are practical challenges for the mother in attending, such as having a baby in neonatal care, a virtual check can be carried out so long as appropriate follow-ups are in place.
more like this

answer text
Details of Ministerial meetings are published quarterly on GOV.UK.

It is the Government’s ambition, as set out in the Women’s Health Strategy, that healthcare professionals in primary care are well-informed about the menopause and able to offer women evidence-based advice and treatment options.

The General Medical Council will be introducing the Medical Licensing Assessment for the majority of incoming doctors, including all medical students graduating in academic year 2024 to 2025 and onwards. The content for this assessment will include key topics relating to women’s health, including the menopause. This will encourage a better understanding of women’s health among doctors as they start their careers in the United Kingdom.

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has a holistic curriculum of training that all general practitioners (GPs) must cover before they are able to pass the examination to become a member of the RCGP and work independently as a GP. There is a specific section on women’s health, including the menopause. As a result, the menopause is already a core competency of all qualified GPs. The RCGP has also developed a women’s health toolkit to support GPs, which includes resources on the menopause.

Employers in the health system are responsible for ensuring that their staff are trained to the required standards to deliver appropriate treatment for patients.

answer text
There are over 70 hormone replacement therapy (HRT) products available in the United Kingdom and while most remain in good supply, a range of factors including an increase in demand has led to issues with a limited number of products. We have been working with suppliers, stakeholders and the National Health Service and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to maintain overall supply, including expediting resupply dates of the disrupted HRT products.

Since Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs) on specific HRT products were introduced to ensure even distribution and allow alternative products to be dispensed, supplies have now improved and recently, several SSPs have been removed. Suppliers have secured additional stock of products experiencing shortages and deliveries have been expedited. We share regular communications on shortages, discontinuations and supply information with the NHS.
more like this

answer text
In August 2022, following the emergency use approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation endorsed the use of a fractional dose of the vaccines used for monkeypox given by intradermal injection during periods of supply constraints.

Under the approach, eligible people are offered a 0.1 millilitre (ml) dose of the vaccines, instead of the 0.5ml dose typically administered. This will potentially enable up to a five-fold increase in the number of people that can be offered vaccination. NHS England and the UKHSA are currently assessing the operational feasibility of using fractional dosing, including necessary staffing model, vaccination throughput, volume and patient experience.
more like this

These are geographically split across counties in England to enable access to a SARC service closer to home.

The provision of services is monitored regularly by regional SARC commissioners in partnership with local police and police crime commissioners.
