answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/01/2021 answer text <p>The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) ensures that documents forming the basis of the valproate Pregnancy Prevention Programme are available electronically and distributed regularly as hard copies to prescribers and pharmacists to support discussions of the risks of taking sodium valproate during pregnancy with women and girls who require this medicine. Healthcare professionals have been reminded of their responsibility to inform women and girls taking valproate of the risks, through letters from the United Kingdom’s Chief Medical Officers and Chief Pharmaceutical Officers and by articles in the MHRA’s electronic bulletin Drug Safety Update. The conclusions of a safety review by the Commission of Human Medicines of the risks of other epilepsy medicines in pregnancy have recently been published to aid discussions about the most suitable treatment options.</p><p>The MHRA is working with the wider healthcare network to explore additional ways of improving the reach of regulatory communications through platforms in the healthcare and patient setting. At the point that someone receives their COVID-19 vaccine, the vaccinating team will record this information on the NIMS system and onto a patient’s general practitioner record. When patients are vaccinated, they should receive a vaccine record card where the date of their vaccination, the suggested date for their second dose and details of the vaccine type and batch can be recorded.</p><p>The National Booking Service is primarily sending physical invite letters to people’s registered addresses. These letters give the option of booking online, or by the free 119 phone line. Others can make an appointment on behalf of individuals who are not able to make it themselves. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/02/2021 answer text <p>The Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended that as many people on the JCVI priority list as possible should be offered a first vaccine dose as the initial priority. The four United Kingdom Chief Medical Officers agree with the JCVI that at this stage of the pandemic prioritising the first doses of vaccine for as many people as possible on the priority list will protect the greatest number of at-risk people overall in the shortest possible time. This will have the greatest impact on reducing mortality, severe disease and hospitalisations and in protecting the National Health Service and equivalent health services.</p><p> </p><p>For both vaccines, data provided to the Medicines and Healthcare products and Regulatory Agency demonstrates that whilst efficacy is optimised when a second dose is administered, both offer considerable protection after a single dose, in the short term. This includes delivery through hospital hubs, local vaccination services and vaccination centres.</p><p> </p><p>Local vaccination services are well placed to support the specific needs of our highest risk individuals, including those unable to leave their home. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/01/2021 answer text <p>The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) are the independent experts who advise the Government on which vaccines the United Kingdom should use and provide advice on prioritisation at a population level.  For the first phase, the JCVI has advised that the vaccine be given to care home residents and staff, as well as frontline health and social care workers, then to the rest of the population in order of age and clinical risk factors.
