answer text <p>The Government has not yet taken a decision on which former United Kingdom residents should in the future be exempt from National Health Service charges when visiting the UK. We are currently undertaking further analysis and financial appraisal, as well as considering how any change to the current rules could be administered by the NHS. The number of people recorded on practice disease registers is taken from the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), published by the Health and Social Care Information Centre. answer text <p>Under the terms of their contract for the provision of NHS primary medical services, general practitioners (GPs) are required to provide certain prescribed medical reports, such as those required to prove incapacity to work, free of charge to their registered patients.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Outside of this, it is at the discretion of the individual GP to decide whether he or she charges for this service and, if so, how much.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department does not issue guidance on fees for letters. The Professional Fees Committee of the British Medical Association (BMA) suggests fees for such services to help doctors set their own professional fees. However, these fees are guidelines only, and a doctor is not obliged to charge the rates suggested. Where doctors intend to charge for services to patients, the BMA advises them to forewarn patients, at the earliest opportunity, of the likely level of fees.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government has had to make difficult decisions this year on pay but staff will be receiving either an annual incremental increase in pay or a pay award worth at least 1%.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to a National Health Service that provides safe, compassionate care. The choice we faced was either to invest more in pay or to protect the front line; we cannot afford to do both. The Government believes the decision to protect the front line, whilst a difficult decision to make, was the correct one.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Since 2010 there has been an increase of 15,000 clinical staff in the NHS in England including 4,500 additional nurses.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>General medical contractors and general dental contractors did receive a consolidated award, as in November 2012 they agreed changes to their contracts to improve services and to end time-based progression pay. These important changes mean that GP earnings more fairly reflect the surgery workload and performance; this is why it was affordable for us to accept the pay review body recommendations</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>Government have made it clear to the NHS trades unions that it is prepared to discuss any proposals, within the existing pay bill, that could make consolidated awards affordable.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>Since 1 April 2013 NHS England has been responsible for commissioning Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) aids for patients with complex disability whose needs require specialised assessment.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS England has identified an additional £22.5 million funding for AAC and Environmental Controls in 2014-15. They have been working closely with the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) to ensure this funding is equitably distributed across England in a fair and consistent manner. The MNDA are representing all patients on the panel which is reviewing this funding allocation.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The service specification and management protocols for this service contain clear standards for providers to supply communication devices within an agreed timescale depending on the complexity. answer text <p>Under the Government’s voluntary partnership with industry the focus is on overall calorie reduction, of which sugar can form a part. This has resulted in real progress in reducing calories.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Scientific Advisory Committee Report on Nutrition has recently published their draft recommendations on Carbohydrates. The final report, together with recommendations from Public Health England on sugar in the diet is due next spring.
