	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/03/2015 answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring that patients have access to effective treatments, including those for brain cancers, on terms that represent value to the National Health Service and the taxpayer.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent body responsible for providing advice to the NHS on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of health technologies. NICE has recommended the following drugs for brain cancers as treatment options, subject to certain clinical criteria, in its technology appraisal guidance published in June 2007:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>- temozolomide (Temodal) for the treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM); and</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>- carmustine (Gliadel) implants, for the treatment of newly diagnosed high-grade glioma.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS commissioners are legally required to fund treatments recommended by NICE technology appraisal guidance.</p><p> </p><p><em> </em></p><p> </p><p>Where a drug to treat brain cancer is not routinely available on the NHS, patients may be able to access it through the Cancer Drugs Fund. Bevacizumab (Avastin) is available for the third line treatment of low grade paediatric gliomas through the Fund.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are also commissioning an external review of the pathways for the development, assessment, and adoption of innovative medicines and medical technology. It announced a number of measures to support these efforts but also laid the foundations for additional areas to be looked at as the programme progresses.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As part of the programme the Department is starting a programme of financial incentives to support the NHS in identifying chargeable visitors and migrants using the NHS. These incentives recognise the administrative and financial burdens that can face NHS trusts in the recovery process and aim to counter balance these. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/10/2014 answer text <p>During the course of this year, officials from the Department of Health and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BiS) have formally met once for policy discussions on the issue of non-compliance of social care employers with National Minimum Wage legislation. I have also recently written to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Employment Relations (Jo Swinson) on this subject.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The new scheme making it easier to name and shame employers who do not comply with National Minimum Wage legislation came into effect from October 2013 and applies to investigations initiated after that date. HM Revenue and Customs leads on the conduct of investigations and makes recommendations to BiS Ministers on the issue of naming employers found to be in breach. Pay is not the single most significant factor in delivering high quality services.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department is clear however that care providers must abide by the law with regards to payment of the national minimum wage and is taking steps to ensure this happens. The Department is liaising with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to name and shame any social care providers who do not comply with the national minimum wage legislation and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs is continuing to carry out enforcement action in the social care sector and will investigate all complaints made by care workers that their employer is not paying them the national minimum wage. However, it should be noted that significant improvements have been made by the National Health Service in addressing overall levels of Meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and clostridium difficile bloodstream infections.
