The British Government is firmly committed to standing up for freedom of religion, and for individuals to practice their beliefs free from fear. We regularly use our high level discussions with the Vietnamese Government to stress the need for respect for the human rights commitments enshrined within both Vietnam's own 2013 constitution and the international commitments to which Vietnam is party.
more like this

At the UK-Vietnam Strategic Dialogue in January 2018, I expressed concern at the restrictions on civil and political rights in Vietnam, including freedom of expression and assembly, and stressed the need for the Vietnamese government to create space for civil society. The UK also raised concerns about worsening restrictions on freedom of expression in Vietnam at the 37th Human Rights Council in March.
more like this

answer text
Both the Minister responsible for Human Rights and I have raised the recent deaths and injuries, suffered during protests in Gaza, with the Israeli authorities. We have urged Israel to show restraint and the Palestinians to ensure that future protests are peaceful. There is an urgent need to establish the facts, including why such a volume of live fire was used and what role Hamas played in the events. We welcome Israel’s commitment to investigate the conduct of operations, and urge that the findings of this investigation be made public. If wrongdoing is found, those responsible should be held to account. We remain concerned about an escalation in violence in the lead up to mid-May, and urge all parties to de-escalate the situation.
more like this
