As the Foreign Secretary made clear in Parliament on 2 June we have repeatedly called for the Hong Kong authorities to facilitate a robust inquiry into the police's behaviour, independent of the Hong Kong and Chinese Governments. Addressing police accountability remains essential for rebuilding trust in Hong Kong. The Foreign Secretary raised the need for such an inquiry with Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam at the height of the protests last year. Officials have continued to raise the issue at senior levels with the Hong Kong SAR Government since then. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/05/2020 answer text <p>The Home Secretary and her department lead on and work closely with French authorities to manage the migratory pressures at our joint border, including during the current context of the Covid-19 pandemic.</p><p>Under the terms of the 2018 Sandhurst Agreement, the UK and France have worked together to further enhance co-operation on managing the shared border. This includes strengthening co-operation around migration and facilitating access to the asylum procedure for those who seek international protection, and working to reduce the number of people crossing the border illegally, risking their own safety and lives. Following the UK-France Summit at Sandhurst in 2018, £1.1 million was committed and has since been spent to support the development of reception centres for migrants in France.</p><p>The relocation of vulnerable individuals into reception centres remains an issue of domestic responsibility for the French Government. Since the introduction of the COVID-19 measures in France on 17 March, French authorities have worked with over 600 migrants to relocate them to accommodation centres. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/04/2020 answer text <p>The UK welcomes the unilateral ceasefire announced by Saudi Arabia, which follows the call on 25 March by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for a cease to hostilities in Yemen. We fully support the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths's call for all parties to engage in urgent political talks to convert this into a durable ceasefire. We have also secured a UN Security Council statement which urges the Houthis to engage constructively with his efforts: https://www.un.org/press/en/2020/sc14159.doc.htm. A ceasefire will only have an effect on the ground if it is underpinned by a political deal. It is important that both the Houthis and the Government of Yemen seize this opportunity for progress. A permanent ceasefire and co-operation with the UN-led political process is the best defence we have against a potentially devastating outbreak of Covid-19 in Yemen.</p><p>Until the Secretary of State for International Trade re-takes the licensing decisions remitted to her by the Court of Appeal, or concludes a successful appeal, the Government will not issue new licences for exports to Saudi Arabia and its coalition partners for possible use in the conflict in Yemen. The Government publishes official statistics (on a quarterly and annual basis) about export licences on GOV.UK at: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/strategic-export-controls-licensing-data. The British Embassy in Tel Aviv and the British Consulate-General in Jerusalem are in regular contact with the Israeli and Palestinian authorities respectively. Both report good cooperation between the two entities in response to COVID-19. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/03/2020 answer text <p>Due to a State of National Emergency announced on 16 March, and subsequent strict travel restrictions, members of our Embassy in Lima are working remotely. We are working round the clock to make flights available this week for British people who wish to leave Peru but who are currently unable to do so. The first flight landed at Heathrow on Thursday 26 March. carrying 192 passengers of which 172 were high priority, vulnerable cases. We have chartered a further three British Airways flights to help hundreds more British tourists in Peru return to the UK in the week of 30 March. Additionally we have chartered domestic flights from Cusco and Arequipa to Lima so that UK nationals can transfer to the London-bound flights.</p><p>Like other organisations, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will be affected if large numbers of staff become infected with covid-19. The same will be true of our overseas network. In that context, we are reprioritising activities and reassigning staff to make sure that we can continue to lead a global response to Covid-19 and deal with other urgent matters as they arise. The UK is in regular contact with governments, local authorities, commercial airlines and other diplomatic missions to enable British people to get home. International cooperation is more important than ever. Our consular team is working around the clock to provide support, advice and information. We will not issue any export licences when there is a clear risk of a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law. We consider a wide range of sources when assessing arms licenses against the Consolidated Criteria, including classified and open source information, and reporting we receive from Non-Governmental Organisations. This includes reports by the UN Panel of Experts, which issues an Annual Report and a Mid-Term Report. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/02/2020 answer text <p>The UK is committed to supporting Bahrain's oversight bodies, including the Ministry of Interior Ombudsman and the independent Special Investigations Unit. The support we provide to these bodies contributes to the development of both their capacity and capabilities. We have provided assistance in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme contributing to their work to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 16 (strengthening institutions and increasing access to justice).</p><p>The capability of these bodies to hold government departments to account has been demonstrated through the prosecution of at least 97 police officers, accused of human rights violations. It was as a result of an investigation by the oversight bodies, that the cases of Mohammed Ramadhan and Hussain Moosa were referred back to the Court of Cassation, leading to a re-trial in the Court of Appeal.</p><p>I have publicly reiterated my concern about the death sentences handed down to Husain Moosa and Mohammed Ramadhan.
