answer text <p>The British Government remains closely engaged with South Sudan's leaders, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and its Member States, our Troika (USA and Norway) partners, and the wider international community to encourage the implementation of the peace agreement signed on 12 September.</p><p>The parties to the conflict must show they are genuinely committed to its implementation and must abide by the commitments they have made. Key indicators of this commitment include an immediate end to all violence, the release of all political detainees, and the removal of impediments to humanitarian access.</p><p>As part of our support for long term peace in South Sudan, we also continue to urge the region and the international community to hold accountable those who are working against peace, which must include the robust enforcement of UN sanctions and the arms embargo.</p> more like this

Officials press the Indonesian authorities to address legitimate human rights concerns, including upholding the right of all citizens to peacefully protest, and ensure the sustainable and equitable development of the province. We continue to make clear to the Government of South Sudan our strong opposition to the use of the death penalty under any circumstances, most recently with senior members of the Government on 6 December. Withdrawals year by year since 1999 are as follows: in 2000 there were 6; in 2001, 18; in 2002, 11; in 2003, 20; in 2004 19; in 2005, 17; in 2006, 16; in 2007, 31; in 2008, 19; in 2009, 15; in 2010, 14; in 2011, 17; in 2012, 19; in 2013, 34; in 2014, 18, in 2015, 29; in 2016, 44 and in 2017 there were 35 withdrawls. Information on withdrawals was published annually on the Department of Trade and Investment (DTI) website from 2001 then on the Health and Safety Executive website from 2007 and is now published on the website of the Office for Nuclear Regulation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The British Government pays close attention to the situation of Karen and Shan refugees in nine camps along Thailand's border with Burma. DFID has committed to spend £6.7 million over the period 2016-2020 to support these camps. Our Ambassador to Burma, DFID staff from Burma and an official from the British Embassy Bangkok visited Mae La and Ban Mai Nai Soi camps in October 2018 and also met representatives of the Shan, Karenni and Karen communities to stress the UK's commitment to Burma's peace process. Our Embassy in Bangkok has asserted in meetings with the Thai Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs that conditions are not in place for these refugees to return to Burma.</p> more like this
