This will ensure that there is no gap when the anti-money laundering and sanctions regimes in force now, under the EU, are transferred to the new UK framework. Russia and China have promoted a 'freeze for freeze roadmap' as a route into negotiations on the nuclear issue. Both the US and South Korea have said the Chinese and Russian proposal is unacceptable as it falsely equates North Korea's continued pursuit of <em>illegal</em> nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes in violation of multiple UN Resolutions and <em>lawful</em> defensive military co-operation between allies and partners. The Foreign Secretary has also made this clear to his Chinese and Russian counterparts.</p><p>We welcome the news that President Moon Jae-In and Kim Jong Un plan to hold a leaders summit and that Kim Jong Un is willing to hold direct talks on denuclearisation with President Trump by May. We welcome too North Korea's commitment to suspend nuclear and missile tests while dialogue continues. During the last 12 months we have continued to press those states who have not yet signed and ratified the Treaty to do so. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister for Asia made a statement promoting the universalisation and entry into force of the Treaty at the Conference on Facilitating the Entry Into Force on 20 September 2017. During the current 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, the UK made a statement and co-sponsored a resolution pursuing these goals for the Treaty. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2018 answer text <p>A political settlement remains the only means for bringing long-term stability to Yemen – there is no military solution to the conflict. The Yemeni parties must engage constructively and in good faith to overcome obstacles and find a political solution to end the conflict. The UK continues to play a leading role in international efforts to achieve this goal. The Foreign Secretary discusses the military and political situation in Yemen with the Foreign Ministers of the United States of America, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia regularly, and most recently on 23 January at our Embassy in Paris. In June last year the UK sponsored and coordinated a UN Security Council Presidential Statement, agreed on 15 June, which called upon the parties to the conflict to agree the modalities for a ceasefire, take steps to address the humanitarian crisis and restart political talks. We are now working urgently with our international and regional partners to ensure that the Security Council's words are converted into action. We support the government's determination to end it swiftly, using measures that are proportionate and respect human rights, and urge it to hold the perpetrators to account. It is vital that all leaders in Sri Lanka condemn violence and hate, and make every effort to promote harmony.</p><p>The UK is committed to supporting government and civil society efforts to improve human rights in Sri Lanka. We hope this signals that Kim Jong Un is ready to change path and put the welfare of his people ahead of the illegal pursuit of nuclear weapons. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2018 answer text <p>The Government does not prioritise trade over human rights, nor does it shy away from condemning the use of the death penalty in all circumstances and in all countries. The Saudis are well aware of our position. We raise our concerns with the Saudi authorities at all levels and at all appropriate opportunities, in line with the standards set out in the EU guidelines on the death penalty, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Arab Charter on Human Rights.</p><p>The relationships we build with countries, including Saudi Arabia, through trade and security links, and educational and research collaboration, allow us to make greater progress with those countries on human rights, including on the death penalty.</p><p>The Government especially opposes the death penalty when applied to minor crimes and to juveniles. The Government supports the law proposed by the Shura Council to abolish the death sentence for those under the age of 18 in Saudi Arabia.
