We are concerned by the amendment to Hungary's Registry Act that was passed through by the Hungarian Parliament on 19 May, and the impact this will have on the rights of transgender people.

I raised these concerns with the Hungarian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Levente Magyar, on 30 April. Officials in our Embassy in Budapest have also discussed the amendment with senior Hungarian officials, as well as with civil society. We will continue to maintain a dialogue with Hungary, both bilaterally and in multilateral fora, on promoting tolerance and non-discrimination towards LGBT people.
more like this

The UK Government is working with its South American counterparts, both bilaterally and via multilateral fora, to deliver a robust global response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This includes working with all our international partners, including the G7, G20, the EU, Commonwealth, NATO, the UN and other multilateral institutions, to provide direct funding to vulnerable countries to help them prepare their health systems, and to global organisations like the WHO to help slow the spread of the virus.

As a force for good in the world, the UK has a longstanding record of supporting countries across the globe to prepare for large disease outbreaks, and we will continue to focus our efforts in the South American region on the key areas of reinforcing the resilience of vulnerable countries; pursuing a vaccine; and supporting the global economy.
more like this

answer text
The UK Government is firmly committed to supporting the Falkland Islands and all of the Overseas Territories in dealing with Covid-19. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Ministry of Defence and the Department for International Development are leading a cross-Whitehall effort to provide bespoke support to the Territories. For the Falkland Islands specifically, the UK has procured and transported medical supplies, ventilators and oxygen generation facilities, as well as the necessary equipment to develop an on-island testing capability. This has been supported by facilitating access to UK medical expertise through Public Health England. To support the Falkland civilian population and the British military base on the islands, a military clinical team of six personnel has also been sent to the main hospital on the islands.

I am in regular contact with the political leaders of the Falkland Islands to understand the impact the virus is having on both public health and the economy, to ensure they are receiving support from the UK where needed.

answer text
We continue to be concerned by government action against freedom of expression and Bangladesh remains a Human Rights Priority Country for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. We regularly engage with the Government of Bangladesh to address the full range of our human rights concerns, including freedom of expression. The Minister for South Asia stressed the importance of freedom of expression during a telephone call with Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shahriar Alam, on 18 May 2020. We have also made public statements urging the government to engage constructively with civil society and the media to ensure that legislation such as the Digital Security Act is implemented in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, as well as the Constitution of Bangladesh. Our High Commissioner in Dhaka, alongside other local Ambassadors and High Commissioners, highlighted the global importance of access to information and freedom of expression in a tweet on 7 May 2020.
